This magnificent hotel with wonderful grounds and an amazing swimming pool and views should be one of the great places to stay. Unfortunately it is undersold, underused and consequently ill maintained, it is such a shame as i loved the place. Most of the staff haven't a clue what they are supposed to do, my empty cup of coffee (that took an hour to come) sat by the pool for two days! Paths had not been swept for weeks and the beautiful wooden chalets needed resealing to avoid small animals entering the loft space!
The food was good as long as you had the buffet.
In saying all this I still hope to return one day and see it returned to its former glory.

I stayed in for two nights with my hubby after back from redang, it is pretty much a disappointment in kenyir lake. if you going there for a whole family weekend getaway, that is fine. but if you go there for some fun, not much available....

- the hotel structure was good, i can imagine what their expectation when build this. but i guess over the years, they do not put much money on maintenance...many things looks run down.
- food soso with high price, especially there is nothing around except the only one in the resort..a can of diet coke is 8rm!!
- room pretty big if you do not mind the stinky smell.
- worst thing is not much activities avaiable.....most of them have to reach certain amount of people..you may have to stay two weeks to be able to get some people also wann to go for national park cruise trip... n we cannot wait that long..............service people at recreation center are terrible, they cannot give too much info and they do not work with you..and seems they do not have any passion about this place and their work...

well,if you determined to go kenyir lake, the thing is this might be best hotel you can find around there....

for me, i do not wanna go back.

This hotel is located on a hillside bay overlooking beautiful Tasik Kenyir. The main reception is built like a Malaysian Istana, with a beautiful viewpoint of the lake. The floors tumble down the hillside to the two tiered pool and deck. The cottages are scattered around the hillside, some with lake views, others in the forest. The whole setting is peaceful and quiet.

We were walk in customers having driven from Kuala Terengannu. If you do not have a car, you need to either take a bus from Kuala Lumpur or a taxi from Kuala Terengannu – for some reason there is no bus from KT. We were asked to park the car and a golf cart picked us up to take us to reception. They had two rooms available, one in the forest and another recently renovated overlooking the lake for RM30 more. It was no contest. Our cottage was beautifully appointed and the deck was looking over the lake. We were about a 20 minute walk uphill from the main building. The pool was warm and reception provided free WiFi. We had dinner at the hotel – there are Malaysian hawkers just down the hill at the pier with very good food at reasonable prices. The buffet at the hotel was fine except for the service. It was terrible as the hostess was disinterested, surly and unhelpful.

We stayed only one night. In the morning hot water ran out in the shower. Reception was called and maintenance came but managed only to get warm water. After an excellent breakfast we were called offering us a lake cruise to make up for the hot water problem. We declined since were we leaving. At check out we asked for an equivalent compensation. Our clerk asked her captain who declined any compensation. Reminded that we paid for a deluxe room with little hot water, she went to speak with her manager.

She again declined. I asked to speak to the manager but he was too busy. The clerk did though very quickly reduce the room rate by RM30. This was fine with us.

This resort is beautifully located (although quite isolated) on the lakeshore. The renovated cottages are well appointed. Ask for a lake view one though – they are well worth the extra cost. The resort is well recommended to get away from the heat and hustle and bustle of the towns and cities of Malaysia.
