We stayed in the resort during the last days of a 2-week trip to Malaysia. When we arrived we could just sit down in the lobby with a welcome drink and cold towel while someone arranged everything for us - great! We loved the room (huge bathroom) and the design of the buildings. The bed was very comfortable. Fantastic pools, good breakfast... and a great athmosphere. We will definitely recommend this resort to others traveling to Langkawi.

This hotel suited our needs for a weekend away - it was a short 5/10 minute taxi ride from the airport and with a few beach bars and restaurants in easy walking distance.

The beach was beautiful with clean white sand and plenty of loungers, and the rooms were nice, but, for the high price tag didn't have an overly luxe feel. The quality of the food and the service could have been improved. For example staff took a long time to take orders around the pool, and then plates and glasses weren't cleared unless staff were asked repeatedly etc.

Overall, I would recommend a stay here.

1. Superb view of the ocean
2. Vast variety of night buffet
3. Cozy and serene bedroom
4. Pokemon lovers shall love it here. 2 gyms!
5. Plenty of activities to try - but since the trip is short I cant use them all.
6. Wifi super strength. Its everywhere.
7. Lovely huge pool... 2 pools. Kids and adults. I envy the kids pool because they have like a little lagoon with toys to play around.

I came to meritus with high hopes upon reccommdation from a friend but what was somewhat disappointed. The thing which was missing grossly was hospitality which is one of the key points in this business. The location of the resort is superb and one thing which stood out was CBA and its service, food, staff, location etc everything was excellent. Other than that we were disppointed with resort. To our dismay we realised on the last day of our stay that hotel has a lake...there was no formal tour of the resort and facilities upon arrival. We wanted to do sunset cruise but couldn't do as we didn't find suitable operator running yacht but again we were surprised to see Naam guys sitting in one corner of the hotel and providing the service we needed. But since we were at last min we couldn't do it as everything was already booked. I had been speaking to ppl for last two days and no one pointed me to them.
The staff never took any effort to make things spcl for us except CBA...they were just doing a monotonous job... that's why hospitality was missing. At the end of it we wished we would have booked Vivanta by Taj. As our earlier experience with Taj has been great....

The location of the hotel is good, nearby restaurants on walking distance.
I stayed in a suite with my wife and 2 children, and when I checked-in the room around noon and it was quite a hot day, the air-condition in the room was not cooling at all, I called the help desk to send someone to fix it, someone came and after checking said it was working fine, then only on third request they fixed it because they discovered the AC needed some gas, and the second AC needed the filters to be cleaned, which were extremely filthy and full of dust, this was for sure not been cleaned since ages. Also, the maintenance guy was using the chairs in the room to climb up as he didn't have any ladder with him. The toilet seat was loose and broken, they only came after 3 hours to check it out saying they had lots of work to do in other villas. The food quality of the breakfast was not so good.
In the poolside they only use frozen stuff, nothing fresh like the fish and chips, pizza.
Staff was not very friendly.

Room Tip: Close to the pool or reception as it needs lots of walking or wait for a buggy.
