Overnighted and ate here during a walk across Yorkshire. Despite booking 4 months in advance we got the last room described as a small twin. They were not wrong. Just enough space for two beds with a small gap between them. It was clean and had all the usuals for a hotel like this. Only niggle was it had a very small window so hard to get fresh air through.
Downstairs is split into pub and restaurant areas. We ate in the latter and the food was very good. Typical pub fare for the area done well, and the quantities were huge, I would say close to double. Good selection of beers and other drinks.
Breakfast was similarly large with a good selection of items. We had a few sandwich fillings left over from the day before and were given free bread rolls so wee could make up our own lunch.
Staff were all very helpful and friendly, making it a very enjoyable stay.

This was an evening meal after previously stopping for an afternoon drink. Friday evening the place was busy but the service and food was very good. Considering the location the choice of menu and beverages were ample, as for the portions very ample.
As a suggestion a smaller portion at a reduced price could be considered for ladies.

Stopped off here with friends after we'd spent a day out on the moors. Our friends had been here many times, our first time and wasn't sure what to expect.

We each had quite a different meal but the meal I had (Lasagne) was excellent and very obviously home made. Was too stuffed to sample a pudding but the ladies had the cherries and needed help with those!

Drinks were good too, plenty of different ales to choose from.

All in all a great place to visit, good food and drinks, very refreshing.

Excellent food all round orders got a little muddled but otherwise very satisfied customers from Wakefield West Yorkshire. Shame we weren't there longer as it would've been lovely to sit and chill afterwards

Walkers, cyclists, bikers, motorists this is the place to stop and refresh yourself if your around the area. I regularly stop here and the fare is usually reasonable in quality and price. It's the type of place you want to linger at. If the weather is good, and it was stunning when I called today, there is a large beer garden. If the weather is inclement, which is rare (!) then the old world charm of the inn welcomes you. They serve Yorkshie lager, surely the best lager in the world...and I've sampled many. Don't pass without popping in for a drink at least.

Room Tip: No idea about rooms but the location is stunning.
