There is only one word to describe the Gables Retreat and that is WOW!
We stayed for the weekend 27th – 30th June 2014. We travelled in a party of eight all of us family six from Sheffield and two from Hinckley. We wanted a place we could all fit in to celebrate a 60th birthday an 18th birthday a 14th birthday as well as two anniversaries. I have to say we couldn’t have picked anywhere better!
On arrival we entered the property and have to say the first thing we noticed was the beautiful hamper left for us by Dianne (Lovely touch). The whole house is finished to a very high standard everything is beautiful and everything you need is right there.
The bedding is cotton and the beds where so comfortable I could have holidayed just in the bed.
The bathrooms are a pleasure to use and you leave feeling fresh clean and revitalised.
The grounds around the house are amazing the children had more than enough room to run and play safely they enjoyed meeting the sheep and trying their hands at tennis the most.
After the sun goes down there is nothing more relaxing than spending an hour or two in the hot tub such a delight.
I do understand that you can hire in caterers but we decided to cook ourselves and the kitchen is fully equipped with all you will ever need.
This place is so tranquil and you are away from everything a real break from reality.
I would recommend this place for family a get together or maybe even a hen do for lets say the more mature brides to be!
All in all not a bad word to say about Gables Retreat. The hosts are so welcoming and we all had such a lovely enjoyable weekend thank you and we hope to be back soon

We stayed at The Gables Retreat last weekend as a large group of eleven & had such a brilliant time. From the start Diane was so incredibly helpful with our booking. She replied promptly to all my emails & questions & nothing was too much bother
Diane went over & above in recommending places to go & things to do. Directions & information for our stay were spot on. We were able to find the house quite easily even without the sat nav.
The Gables Retreat is the most amazing house. It's beautiful & the attention to detail is incredible. All of the rooms are tastefully decorated & look amazing! It's very spacious so even with eleven people you don't feel like you are on top of each other.
There are four bathrooms which are gorgeous, especially the one with the large walk in shower & bath. Having this number of bathrooms really helps with a large party!
We arrived to a welcome basket was just lovely. The cake, bottle of fizz & other bits were a lovely touch. As were the bath robes & slippers!
We felt welcome & able to relax & enjoy ourselves at all times. Diane & her husband made themselves available & yet were not imposing. We had a gentle reminder text about the hot tub was written in a way that I did not feel we were being told off, just that it would be helpful if we covered it.
The hot tub was just brilliant! We made good use of it & was a nice luxurious part of the stay. It is well maintained & kept to a high standard of cleanliness.
The Gables is a 20 min taxi ride into Lincoln which is a beautiful city & has lots of restaurants & pubs. Plenty to do for a large group!
We had the best time & everyone said that they would love to come again. I will certainly be recommending The Gables Retreat to family & friends. We are already looking at a booking for next year!

Travelled with our family of 8 adults 2 children and our family dog. The Gables Retreat is a real gem . The accommodation was first class and all fixtures and fittings were of a high standard.The house has retained its charm whilst offering everything you could need for a family break. The garden,childrens play area and animals were a great hit with the children,whilst the adults enjoyed the hot tub. We were blessed with glorious weather and spent most of the weekend outside making use of the BBQ . Would highly recommend you spend some time here.

Exceeded our expectations for a lovely Easter weekend away. Felt extremely welcome and with tennis, jacuzzi, croquet, animals and games for the kids, we had all bases covered. Highly recommended.

The Gables Retreat is a fantastic and beautiful place to stay if your looking for a peaceful, relaxing break. With everything you could possibly think of, this gorgeous cottage catered to our every need. From the beautifully decorated rooms, the tranquil surroundings (where all you will hear is the occasional sheep or horse!) and the personal touches, our party of 8 adults and 3 children (under 4yrs) had a brilliant holiday together.
I cannot fault this holiday home! The pictures shown don't do it justice....each room has been thoughtfully decorated and accessorised to make you feel at home and able to switch off from reality during your stay. Definately of 5* quality.
We loved the welcome hamper...wine, cake, home made marmalade...and even some Easter eggs for the kiddies. What a fabulous touch!
Lastly...we absolutely loved the huge hot tub on the patio...a great treat each night for the adults to unwind! (Needless to say I doubt we'll ever go anywhere without a hot tub ever again!)
You MUST visit this stunning holiday home! Thank you to Diane and her family for welcoming us and helping us have a memorable holiday x
