Have been here on numerous occasions as a family & enjoyed it until late. However tonight we were refused service because our kids (well behaved 15 yr olds) couldn't be served after 9 (it was 9.15). My problem isn't the rule itself, it's that it is only when it suits the Landlord...who incidentally didn't have the decency to tell me himself (or the bottle) but sent a young barman - who himself was surprised by the 'new' rule. Clearly this pub doesn't need our custom...grow a pair mate.

A very pleasant, traditional looking but tastefully modernised village pub with separate eating areas and a garden. Wide-ranging menu, with everything from burgers to Sunday roasts and some more imaginative dishes. I chose a Greek Salad, which was very tasty and well presented with a delicious dressing. Great value and friendly, attentive service.

A group of us were visiting Chester for the weekend and staying in a b&b a mile away from The Plough. We spent our Friday evening there and enjoyed the food so much we decided to return the following night. We were not disappointed as again we found the food to be excellent and service efficient and friendly.
We even got a lift home at the end of the night thanks to the landlord. Thanks Dave!!

I have not been to the plough for over 30 years so was looking forward to visiting with family who are currently visiting from overseas. We all opted for the carvery, expecting it to be the usual go up and help yourself type carvery but instead it was brought plated to the table. The portion sizes were good enough however the meat selection seemed to be pre-cooked and when leaving a review I am only able to mark the food as average.

Staff were friendly and service was very good, the sweets were very good and well presented. I won't be leaving it another 30 years but will chose a different option to the 'carvery' next time.
