Darwin's Rest Cafe and Craft Shop with Exhibition about the Parallel Roads at Glen Roy.
Ranked #1 of 1 Coffee & Tea in Roybridge
Price range: US$3 - US$9
Description: You'll find Darwin's Rest is in the small village of Glen Roy. The Visitor Centre is run by Lochaber Geopark and is home to an exhibition about The famous Parallel Roads in Glen Roy NNR which Charles Darwin visited in 1838. This small welcoming craft and coffee shop is the last stop before heading east through the beautiful Glen Spean. There is a good selection of light meals on offer everything from breakfast to lights snacks and tasty cakes. You'll also find some of the best coffee in the highlands (well, that's our opinion. Come and see what you think!). We also stock fantastic hand-made chocolates from the Oban Chocolate Company, alongside selected local products, craft and artwork.

A welcome stopping point with really nice coffee and home baking. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. It was also really good to see all the information on the local geology with interesting books and leaflets on the subject. We'll certainly be back.

This is a lovely spot for coffee or tea. It's right at the base of the road up to the Lochaber Ice Age Geopark and a short walk to a number of places to stay. The coffee was the very best I had while in Scotland for 11 days. It was so much better than Costa and every other shop. The fresh buns for bacon rolls smelled divine while baking. The front of the shop offers local crafts and educational information about the area.

If possible, take a walk up to the Geopark. It's only 3 miles up a quiet road that offers amazing views of the surrounding hills. Partway up is a marker for a clan skirmish.

If coming up from Spean Bridge, take the bus, unless you enjoy being buzzed by traffic. While a short walk of 3 miles, there's no sidewalk for about 2 miles of the walk. The Roybridge bus stop is almost right in front of the coffee shop.

A very clean and welcoming place - good home made food - a small menu, but freshly made. Great home baking too. Friendly staff. Good info on the parallel roads too! Well worth a visit if you're in the area. We've been 3 times already!
