First visit here. Staff on reception lovely. The rooms are a little bit tired and in need of tlc but are clean which is more important. Evening meal in the bar was delicious. Breakfast average somewhat spoiled by the staff arguing in the kitchen. I fully accept these things happen but do it out of earshot of the guests.

Our second visit to The Onich Hotel and it did not disappoint. A lovely location, friendly helpful staff, good food and a really nice room with superb views out over the Loch. The staff went out of their way to make our stay special and it really was. The atmosphere was really welcoming, sitting reading email on the balcony with a good cup of tea, and the sea sounds in the background just incredibly relaxing. Do ask early for a Balcony room, as not all rooms have one. Good local food in the Restaurant and home-made smoked Salmon with scrambled egg for Breakfast. Just lovely. Thanks again to John and his Staff for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a Balcony room.

Our view of this hotel is coloured by having stayed there many times over the years when it was family owned and very well maintained - so after a gap of some 10 years or more we weren't sure what to expect. On the postive side the location is superb (especially if you have a rear balcony room !), the bed was supremely comfortable, plenty of hot water, and the evening meal (served in the bar) was of very good quality and very good value. On the negative side, the lochside gardens have not been maintained, the hotel itself (both rooms and public areas) is due for some major renovation, the bar evening meal lacked the atmosphere of a proper hotel restaurant, and the breakfast was greasy with a limited choice of alternatives. The place has obviously changed hands (more than once ?) as the longest serving member of staff had only been there 4 years, and there is a backlog of the most basic maintenance. Why 4 stars ? - well, all the staff were helpful, there is talk of refurbishment and we would certainly stay there again.

What a beautiful setting. The hotel is very friendly. We arrived on a day they had set up face painting for the kids and a bouncy castle on the lawn. They are super helpful when you are in a large group unannounced. The place is clean and very cozy inside but the view when you sit out in the garden at the back is spectacular. Even if the weather is bad you can sit inside and enjoy the view through the window. Their prices are very reasonable and nothing seems too much trouble for these lovely people.

Room Tip: ask for a view out the back.

We stayed at the Onich Hotel for two nights as part of a longer trip visiting Scotland. It is an older building, but everything was in good shape.

There was a great selection of food and drinks, and the meals we had were delicious.

Our room had a balcony looking out on the loch, and it was a wonderful view.

The staff were gracious and capable.

There was one oddity, though. Our bathroom sink was almost completely clogged for our entire stay. We did visit on a weekend and apparently there was miscommunication among the staff on the resolution, but it was still a bit inconvenient to have the sink back up almost immediately on use and then take an hour or so to drain. In spite of that, I still give it five stars.

Room Tip: I highly recommend the rooms with balconies.
