Visited the Jug & Bottle with Mrs Wildboar for Friday evening dinner. We met several neighbours on the way who were just leaving, and I can see why this is a popular Heswall haunt.

We had reserved a table in the dining area, set a little apart from the bar, which meant it was quieter.

I had a goat's cheese risotto starter, quite tasty although the rice could have been slightly less cooked. Main was sea bass, well cooked but had a few bones. Slightly disapppinting accompanyment, artichokes needed to be better trimmed, too many potatoes and nothing else.

Good service.

Certainly worth a revisit, would be outstanding with a bit more attention to detail.

I've stayed twice in the last few weeks for business and think it's very nice in every way the staff are well mannered and lovely the rooms are very clean and well appointed, well done in all areas you can see the effort that has been put in is reaping rewards

Very nice surroundings, lovely food at a reasonable price, good service. We both enjoyed club sandwiches and shared a portion of chunky "pub" chips (very good). Would have been 5* but over £3 for a coke.

Wow can't believe it's taken us so long to go!!!! Lovely setting, seated area looks out over wales. The decor is very shabby chic/twee...the food was fantastic and reasonably priced for how amazing it was...I had seabass which was so light and flavoursome. Staff were genuinely friendly and made us feel like regulars. Very pleasant evening - thanks

Visited on Thursday 1at June.

Welcoming atmosphere and great staff. The food is unbelievably good. By far the best I have had for some time. The steak and Guinness pie is like nothing you will have had before. Reasonable price....fantastic experience......

By way of comparison I am sat today in Carr farm garden centre having lunch. Thoroughly average and more expensive...they won't get 5 stars.
