Great location, lovely breakfast and good kitchen facilities. The beds in the dorm are way to short (with end boards), making it very hard for a tall person to sleep. Any hostel that allows thier staff to check people in at 1:37am (technically a new day, check-in is at 2pm), turn the light on and speak at full volume looses rank in my eyes. I took the lightbulb out from the night onwards! A staff member or someone not from our room woke me up every morning at 6am coming into the dorm to shower, sneeze and blow thier nose. The beeping keypad on the door is kinda irritating at night and no WiFi in the dorm room really sucks.

This place is absolutely wonderful. The location is great as you can walk to 4 different beaches. All the staff were amazing. Food and drinks were very very good and reasonably priced. Love the big portions and the caipirinhas the lady makes! Cleaners did a great job, they went above and beyond. We only planned on staying here a few days then moving to somewhere else on the island but found we could do trips from here and use it as our base. They have organized tours to parties at night which is great. We also had a massage from the girl that works there which was wonderful and relaxing. Loved the chocolate man that came at night, you need to try the coconut and strawberry. The only con about this place is that it's a trap! You'll never want to leave...

The hostel has a really nice view of the beach, and it's in Barra da Lagoa, a small fishing village. It's a nice community, you'd feel at home. The beach is near, and transportation is easy. They rent out surfboards and wetsuits for free as well. Kind staff, and they speak good English. The free buffet breakfast is marvelous: cheese and ham sandwiches with wheat bread options, passion fruit juices, coffees, and fresh fruits. And the food at the restaurant, the lunch and dinner specials are incredible, and they change it everyday. The chefs have Italian and Japanese lineage, so you can't go wrong. Clean. Popular. It has a bar. Great atmosphere! The free wi-fi is fast if you're in the right area. I loved it here!

If you are regularly traveling and staying at hostels, this is one place you cannot miss. It has a perfect location, very friendly and hospitable staff, and perhaps most remarkable of all, excellent food at a very affordable price (25 reais for a great meal and a caipirinha included - better and cheaper than in the town itself). I will definitely come back here! (only minus point is that a number of the boards were broken and not that many available).

Michel, Laura, Mary, and the entire Barra Beach staff are simply amazing. The food is incredible. The people are super friendly and fun. The surroundings are beautiful. If you're going to Floripa, stay here.
