After looking at several places that were advertised, me and my wife decided to book the Coachhouse and we are glad that we did - we absoloutely loved it.
Marie was extremely helpful from the very start; when she found out we didn't have a car, she sent us a link detailing the local transport options and train times to Manchester, and also asked us to get in touch in case we needed any more help/info.
We got dropped off by a friend and brought enough food as we were told the shops were quite a distance away - something which we wanted. The cottage was in a lovely rural setting; away from all the hustle and bustle from city AND village life - yes, it is that rural, but at the same time we didn't feel like we were totally cut-off from the outside world as the cottage is on the grounds of a larger house.
The next morning Ray came and pointed out some local routes as well telling us about the bus times and the local places we could visit.
He returned the same evening having printed out some maps and timetables which was really kind of him, and we began our week of hiking, exploring and visting the local places.
However, the local bus service is far from reliable and sometimes we would be left waiting in the heavy rain.
On one of the days we did a barbeque and had to bother Ray again for some matches which he came and gave us straight away - very nice of him.
We would recommend Harlech Castle and a walk to the beach through the dirt road which goes through a nature reserve; the weather was beautiful that day and the beach was also pretty much deserted.
Another attraction we'd recommend is the steam train which was running on Wednesdays and Thursdays; we took it from Porthmadog to Ffestiniog and if you want to pay a bit extra and travel in the first-class carriage, it's well worth it - the views are stunning.
And one of the places that this review wouldn't be complete without if we didn't mention it is the classical village of Pointmeirion; an absloutely stunning little place around a 15 minute bus ride from the cottage. It also has walks through the forest and a beach, although we didn't see if we could go down to the water - it was really cold and the waters looked dangerous. Another good thing about our visit was that it wasn't the peak holiday season and therefore all the places we visited were almost empty which further enchanced our experience.
Also, a HUGE Thank You to Marie for dropping us off at the train station - that was very very kind of her and we really appreciate it as we had quite a few bags to take with us.
Although the train from Ffestiniong to Llandudno was cancelled, we got on the replacement coach and went through some terrific scenery once again; the train ride from Llandudno to Manchester was also A1 for the views.
Concluding, we would like to say a Very Warm Thank You to Ray and Marie for all their hospitality and kindness; we really enjoyed ourselves and look forward to returning.
Thanks, once again!

Stayed here for a weekend break and the cottage is fantastic. Great location and the owners are lovely people. Would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.
Having thoroughly enjoyed a week at the Coach House in August 2017 we rebooked for this year.
The Coach House proved the perfect base for our adventures again this year, including the Snowdon Railway, Zip World Fforest, King Arthur’s labyrinth, Beddgelert and Portmeirion.
The Coach House was just as idilic as we remembered and Marie and Ray offered a warm and friendly welcome.
My 5 year old daughter insistsed on doing the honours in the guestbook and wrote...
“I love the cottage. I especially love my bedroom with the toys. My favourite parts of the holiday was the rollercoaster at Zip world and watching Narnia with mummy and daddy”
Another perfect holiday and a real home from home for us. We hope to return again.
This was my second visit and my brothers third visit. Such a beautiful little cottage in a stunning setting, right at the foot of the Moelwyn mountains but still only 10 mins walk to 2 pubs which serve great food. You want for nothing it is so well kitted out and the owners are so friendly. Just 10 mins from Harlech beach, Zip World and Ffestiniog steam railway it is so central. Highly recommended and we will be back!
The Coach House is so comfortable and cosy with every amenity taken care of and spotlessly clean. The directions to the property was clear and easy to follow and is set in stunning countryside. We met Marie who was very welcoming and suggested various places to visit but let you to it if that is what you wanted. We spent our days discovering the area (although we knew Conwy pretty well) and the gorgeous weather helped. There's plenty to see and do in the area and fell in love with the Welsh countryside. We'd highly recommend the Coach House.
