We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at the Chowder House. We both ordered the lobster sandwich, and were blown away by the generous portions of lobster on them! We visited on a Sunday, right at the start of the lunch rush, and though they were super busy, the wait staff was friendly, helpful, and I feel we got our lunch in a reasonable amount of time. The delicious food along with the fabulous view made this an extra-special experience. Highly recommend!

The Staff must have had a communal bad day or something as all were rather stone-faced and unhappy-looking (the only place we experienced this on a 2-week vacation down east). Started with a cup of chowder at $7.95. Tiny cup of weak chowder. Bad start. Then a crab sandwich. A good load of decent crab totally un-enhanced by the lousy cold sliced white bread it came in. Put that in a nice toasted bun and BOOM! Instant shine. Mussels followed and they were totally forgettable. A couple of beers and the bill came to way too much for what you get, sorry to say.

Just a few small changes and this well located quaint joint could outshine a lot of places in C.B.

My wife and I have been traveling, hiking, and 'restauranting' for 1 week in Cape Breton. This was by far our favorite stop so far. Very friendly service, incredibly fresh, tasty, and authentic. We shared crab cakes as an appetizer, I had the lobster club and Michele had fish (haddock) and chips. All three were absolutely perfect. The view is also awesome. Highly recommended.

We planned to eat at the Chowder House after hiking all morning. When we arrived mid afternoon and found a seat quickly. A couple who had been seated decided to leave & gave us their table (this might have been a sign!). 3 tables were ahead of us to order but there was nobody to take the order.

After 30 minutes someone started to clear tables but a waitress did not appear. We decided to leave. The food looked great and they also have a busy take out counter.

I am sure our experience was isolated- Maybe another time they will have more staff & we can enjoy their famous Chowder.

Excellent haddock burger, very casual diner with great atmosphere and views that will take your breath away. Service was great, friendly people as with all locations in Nova Scotia! So glad I found this lovely spot.
