We know The Forest of Dean quite well and wanted to come away for a few nights with our grown up children.
Our host, Sue, was charming, really welcoming on our arrival and took the time to show us around the cottage and how the heating etc worked, we don't normally get this! Sue was excellent with comunication leading up to our break, and was very welcoming to our nervy whippet, on arrival.
The house was lovely, with a very nice cottagey interior. It was warm and very comfortable and incredibly well equipped, home from home really. The beds are very comfy, good quality appliances in the kitchen and heaps of hot water too!
The outside was perfect for our dog, with quite a large enclosed garden he could wander around in. Just up the drive is a gap in the hedge and we were away, walking through the woods, lovely!
We stayed in dreary November, which did not dampen spririts one bit, i should imagine in the summer months being able to sit in the peaceful outdoors would be wonderful, especially with the outdoor fire basket.
All in all a very nice few days away.
Booked Cider Press Cottage for a long weekend with friends. Our party consisted of six adults and there was ample of room. Upon arrival we were met by the owner who was very friendly and made us very welcome. In the cottage was everything you needed from tea, coffee and milk to shower gel and towels. There is a pub near by which gives a local feel and serves home cooked food. Be aware that the woods can get very boggy so wellies or waking boots are needed. As the weather was on our side we were able to sit in the beautiful garden and use the brick built BBQ. Great accommodation and brilliant owners. Thanks you very much.
Due to family health problems we were just 2 adults and 2 dogs staying for a week, so we had the choice of 3 beautiful bedrooms ( 2 king size and one with twin beds). The cottage was spacious and really well equipped - we cooked quite a bit and there was everything you could possibly want, even a dishwasher! The dogs were well catered for too, with a hose outside for washing down and a completely secure garden. We had some lovely walks from the cottage into the forest nearby, and they loved the lake at Mallards Pike just five minutes away in the car. The owners have several dogs themselves and welcomed our two despite them being a little noisy at times! Thanks for a great stay Sue.
We found the cottage excellent, much more than what was required by us, location made it really private and quite but close enough to local attractions .The cottage was spotless the bedding was nice and crisp and the welcome coffee , milk and biscuits were really appreciated. Already passed details on to friends. Looking forward to booking again .You really should stay here if you are visiting the Forest of Dean.
