Friendly welcome, food good but rather small portions for amount charged. For the menu at 29 euros we started with a few anchovies on a thin piece of pastry with a small, but tasty salad, followed by 3 very tiny pieces of cod (a few centimetres across), with a lovely sauce and a few vegetables, 2 thin slices of local cheese were next, and to finish was a small meringue with cream and fresh fruit dotted across the top. For the menu at 20 euros we started with a vegetable salad which was a piece of bread with some sort of cheese with radishes arranged on the top and served with a salad, the next course was a delicious pork brochette with the same few veg as in the 29 euro menu. Certainly not the best meal we have had in France.

Last Friday night in March and Villefranche looked as if everyone had closed up and gone away - which could be possible as there are only 150 residents!

La Senyera was open. We were the first there, but it gradually filled as we ate.

Excellent food with a good choice and dishes that were innovatively presented. Very good regional wine - recommend Les Paulilles - and served in a friendly and attentive way. I think it will always be a highlight of our trips out there.

It was full but without reservation we were found a table. The menu was varied and appetizing at a reasonable price. Service was provided by a charming and attractive (whoops…personal bias creeping in there) waitress and the overall evening was very enjoyable.

Thoroughly recommend this restaurant. Outstanding food for the price you pay. We had the 27 Euro menu plus the enfant menu. The food was delicate, very tasty, good portion size and beautifully presented. Intricate combinations of ingredients, nicely balanced using local specialities, meat and vegetables. The wine too (we had a 14Euro Corbierre) was also excellent - full bodied. I'd rate it 9.5 out of 10, only let down by the average dessert, which from any other standard restaurant, wouldn't have passed comment, but after the excellent entrée and main just was too sweet and lacked finesse. However, the place was quiet (weekday, 7.30), the waitresses polite and ambiance just right. They even knocked off 3euros for my daughter not having the entrée on the enfant menu - so 6 euros for chicken nuggets, chips (good portions), and two boules of excellent glace (which I dipped into when she wasn't looking!)

First rate - paid 74Euros - wouldn't have been disappointed/surprised if landed with a 120Euro bill.

Authentic Catalan restaurant. We had booked our table on line after reading reviews on this site and had a quick reply which also confirmed we could take our dog despite the lack of a terrace. We stayed the night in Prades but decided Villefranche was a more interesting place to eat - we were not disappointed. A bright and colourful restaurant, attentive service and a great menu. Lovely evening despite unseasonal driving rain outside. Highly recommended
