We have stayed at the Pacific Resort Rarotonga in previous years and love it for the location. The location is superb, not only for the magnificent lagoon but also because it is situated among a wide range of bars, cafes and restaurants as well as other facilities like car, scooter, and cycle rental places.
However, our room this time was looking very tired and many of the amenities did not work or only worked occasionally. These included the tv, alarm clock/radio, kettle, etc.
Cleanliness was not up to standard either. A dead cockroach sat belly up in a prominent position on the floor for two days, bathroom towels were not changed even when dirty and thrown on the floor. Drinking water was never replenished after our arrival so we had to take quite a long walk to do that ourselves each day. The location of the filtered water was quite hard to find and it was not a pleasant walk on rainy days.
The staff are wonderful. Friendly and obliging. The senior or long-standing staff, especially in the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner, are very professional but newer/junior ones clearly lacked training. Standards have slipped in the rooms and in the eating areas so it appears that staff training has slipped.
Food in the restaurant was mostly not good and what was served frequently did not match menu descriptions (ingredients missing, sauces missing or quite different to menu).
We still had a great time - but that was mostly because of the location and the friendly people.

Husband and I have just left Pacific Resort after 5 beautiful nights. Our arrival was not what we had planned due to one plane breakdown, causing us to miss our connecting flight to Raro. Then our rescheduled flight the next day was diverted to Tahiti due to extreme weather. When we finally arrived, missing our first nights accommodation, nearly 24 hours later than we should have, in torrential rain, the resort staff were quick to help us get settled in. The lovely Franco brought us room service as we hadn't eaten in hours. Having booked half board, he was to become a wonderful familiar face every evening at dinner. Ronald was also an absolute pleasure to deal with. For our daily breakfast, we can't speak highly enough of Aunty Mona. She knows exactly who her guests are and things they like!
The food was amazing. We worked our way thru most of the menu and not one selection disappointed! My lamb curry was gorgeous. As was our final nights dessert of strawberry mousse.
Every staff member we encountered was happy and friendly.
Our beachfront suite was perfect! Daily room servicing was a bonus. The resort is located in a great spot on Muri Beach. While we had a car to explore the island, there is so much within walking distance. Our car hire place was about 1 min walk. The Bluesky outlet (for the awesome $49 travel sims) is even closer. Muri Night market is right outside the resort and the Te Vara Nui over water dinner/dance show is next door. There's a great little convenience store, a cute coffee stand, awesome burgers at Vilis, a great cafe (LBV bakery and cafe) and a nice gift shop, all walking distance. We loved every minute of our stay. We used the complimentary equipment and kayaked and snorkled across to the nearest motu. Apart from Aitutaki, I've never seen such beautiful water. It was truly crystal clear.
This may have been our first time visiting this paradise, but we will definitely be back, and would highly recommend Pacific Resort to anyone wanting the perfect holiday!

We recently stayed at the Pacific Resort and had our dream wedding there. I could not recommend this resort enough both for weddings, and just to relax. The process of organising a destination wedding seemed like a daunting task, but Veronica and Ta'au made the whole thing so easy. The food, service, decorations and destination were second to none, our day couldn't have been more perfect if we tried. The resort is stunning, the rooms are immaculate, and the staff are absolutely amazing. They are friendly, patient with kids, and are extremely helpful. Thank you for making our special day so magical and making our holiday one to remember. We will definitely be back!!

Beach is great, facilities were great, landscaping and grounds are well maintained, and breakfast was plentiful. In-house restaurant was a bit on the pricey side so we went elsewhere. We had an issue with the air-con which was eventually fixed, but the make-good we received was appreciated. Staff were generally helpful and friendly with good tips on where to go. Disappointing that we were not told in advance that the snorkelling cruise would only go ahead with a certain number of adults.

We were recently married early July and our wedding day was nothing short of organised and well planned. Communication with both the wedding coordinator, Veronica and Ta’au, was easy and hassle free with both going beyond expectations to ensure we were happy. Couldn’t recommend them enough.
Our stay was great, all staff were so friendly, hard working and accommodating and the resort was in a great location. The resort is immaculately kept including rooms. I would definitely recommend the Pacific Resort to friends and family for weddings and stays and we will definitely be back.
