Staying at the Sattlerhof Hotel with it's Sunday to Wednesday package the Monday night was at this Buschenschank. First impressions when you drive in was that this was a practical but not particularly attractive place. Set on a hill it was obviously a working vineyard and out buildings. However when you got to the outside seating area the views were spectacular over the hills and vineyards towards Slovenia. The Jausen type cold platters of meats and cheeses were very good. Perhaps smaller portions than many other Buschenschank. Not being particularly hungry I just ordered a schinken (ham) bret (wodden plate). Very good cooked ham, could have done with a bit more. What was interesting was an amazing selection of deserts. Including their own version of tiramisu with a Steirisches touch using Kern Öl (Pumpkin seed oil). Great place for an evening with friends but I have other favourite Buschenschanks.
