Just spent 3 weeks with a group at Colinas del Sol. It absolutely felt like home. The staff very quickly made the point of knowing all our names - there was no request they didn't meet. The rooms are simple, but clean and well planned with good closet and drawer space. The grounds are very natural with lots of birds; the pool is fabulous, food was VERY good.
The hotel is about a 20 - 25 minute walk to Atenas, but a taxi costs about $2 each way, so very easy to access.

We just loved the gardens, the pool, the hammock on our porch, the restaurant and the great People and service here. We spent our last 3 days in a San Jose hotel, and
didn't come close to the atmosphere we had here. Can't go wrong here!
The room was what you get for the price. We didn't use the amenites. We were only going to spend the night there. We got there around 9:30 pm and 20 minutes later a couple with a toddle came to the room next to us. The kid played, screamed and cried for the next three hours. I didn't understand why they had the couple next to us and the other four rooms on that section were empty. The green area is in need of repairs and some nice landscaping.
A very nice hotel and comfortable stay. Hotel is in somewhat of a remote location that is very peaceful. The staff was very nice and helpful. Single bed rooms are equipped differently from the rooms with double beds. Free breakfast. Breakfast was very good. Staff asked what we preferred to have for breakfast. Walls are VERY THIN! Rooms do not offer complete privacy, you can hear everything in the next room! Even if you are just walking by a room you can hear conversations! Air conditioning consists of a ceiling fan. Outside of that it is a very nice hotel.
I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Close to airport. Easy to find. Lovely, safe neighborhood.
Restaurants within safe walking distance. The owner was very helpful and kind and accommodating.
We left our car inside gate for rental company to pick up and he was so helpful with that arrangement/
Cozy and peaceful, with some traffic noise from nearby roads. Delicious breakfast and very friendly and helpful staff. Amazing pool and awesome birds! Breezy and cooler than the Central Valley- a great escape from the hustle and bustle of San José- but a convenient 30-minute drive to SJO.
