Great location just outside Atenas for a quiet and affordable getaway. Bruce and Mailyn were great, full of information and conversation. The rooms were spacious and clean. The rancho and pool were great.

We stayed at this resort for 8 days and had the most amazing time, it was our 11th wedding anniversary and when we arrived we had a nice card and flower in our bungalow from the caretakers Bruce and Mailyn such wonderful hosts. When we needed anything they were always there for us and they offered to take us into town for groceries or shopping. The place is so peaceful and the nature is fabulous when we woke up each morning the birds were singing and Bruce was gracious enough to take us to sites we wanted to see for a modest fee that beat renting a car and he pick us up and drop us off at the airport and the last night there Bruce and Mailyn took us to a Tope Festival what a way to end an anniversary with great time! The bungalows are great with plenty of room and kept clean. I just can't say enough about this resort so if you get a chance and want a real serene an beautiful place to stay while in Costa Rica this place is it!

We will definately go back to Poco Cielo Resort in fact we are missing it already!

I stayed at Poco Cielo a couple of weeks ago. The place is absolutely beautiful!! Peaceful, quiet and serene. Nature abounds there!!
The managers were MORE than gracious. They were happy to answer any question I had. They even offered to take me into town when they had to make a trip in.
Although I cooked my own food in the fully equipped kitchen of my cabin there was a breakfast menu available in my cabin. The managers will cook your breakfast, to your liking, and bring it right to your cabin!!!
The grounds are beautifully landscaped and well kept. The pool was sparkling and inviting. The rancho, also equipped with full kitchen facilities, are available for use by the people staying there.
I can't say when I've enjoyed a holiday more. I will definitely be going back.

This property is in a great location just outside the town of Atenas, we had a great time in the area. The property is beautiful and the weather was good, the only reason I didn’t give it a better rating is we felt as did the other guests we met at Poco Cielo that this property can go either way as far as its future is concerned(bad or good) and we only can hope for the better, the owner is not an onsite owner it’s overseen by a care taker who we felt didn’t have the best interest of the current owner, this is a bed and breakfast with no breakfast, however they were going to provide one after we left for around $8.00 per person, I didn’t understand this nor did the other guest we talked to about breakfast, we all came to the simple solution that coffee, juice, fruit and pastries (that are available in town for around a buck) should be placed out at the pool area (something that is underutilized). This would be a good thing to provide and help bring the guest together to talk about their plans for the day and help give ideas to each other.
The pool area has everything you need for entertainment but is not used, the only way I knew of some of the things out there was to snoop around, there again we all felt that having something going on during the evening (game night, movie night, coffee…ect) would bring the guest together to pass on information of their days events, since it seemed that information was not readily available something we all felt should be printed with events and all things to do in the area (not just selected) so you don’t always having to ask what there was to do or eat locally.
All this information was given to us by people who lived in the area and took the time to tell and show us on a map the must see places in the country, approximate drive time (which were pretty darn close to perfect) and restaurants, then we were able to pass this on to some of the other guest (Thanks Angry Marlin fishing charter, Ginger & her husband without their info who knows how the trip would have gone).
With all that said and some of the other snafus we had at the property (week internet signal, bad TVs and a puppy) I feel Poco Cielo has great potential and only hope for the best. I would consider staying there again if I knew that things were only going in a positive direction

Hello and thank you Ktp64 for your wonderful suggestions. We have recently undergone a management change here at Poco Cielo and are really trying to do all we can to make this place somewhere you can find everything you need, either it being information and/or services. We are currently gathering information into one in-room binder where you can find restaurants, tours, grocery stores, Poco Cielo rules and regulations, and meal options.

Since we are just a small family run Inn we can only make changes little by little but we do appreciate and are open to all ideas and suggestions. We have talked about movie nights and are currently looking into a digital projector to use down in the rancho area. Most likely this would turn into a dinner and a movie night once we finalize some more little details. Game night is a wonderful idea; I will look into acquiring some different games to have on hand for guest use.

As for the puppy that was here, pets are no longer allowed on the property so there will no longer be worries of barking and/or distractions.

We are here to humbly help and provide feedback whenever needed. Please go to our webpage for new management listing with new email contact info. Please feel free to contact me directly if you need assistance, have questions, or some new suggestions.
