We are a family of four who stayed at the Venosa in the last week of August / first week of September.
On arrival we were surprised and pleased to find our allocated room wasn't just one big family room, but had an upstairs and a downstairs with a sofabed for the kids downstairs and a rather large bedroom upstairs. Each room had it's own bathroom and were clean and well fitted.

There was also seperate air conditioning in each room and we had no problems keeping the room at the right temperature. One review I read says it only works at specific times - well our air conditioning worked all the time, except for one day there was a power cut during the night and it broke for a few hours.

The beds I found very comfortable, though I do like a firm mattress. I slept extremely well and had no problems with noise from the disco or the visiting Turkish popstar who came one night, despite being on the ground floor.

Food - there was a large variety of food at every meal. Inevitably there is a little repetition over a period of time, but I found there was enough choice that I never got bored or couldn't find something I liked. I agree if you went into the restaurant at peak times, there was some queueing, but I didn't find it a problem. Between the restaurant, pool bar and little teepee where a lady cooks pancakes, there was hardly any time of the day when you couldn't be eating if you wanted!

Beach - this was private, with a large roped off swimming area and a jetty next to it where you could pay for watersports, like jetski and banana boat etc. The beach is a little rough underfoot, being a fine gravel rather than sand.

Pools - as shown on the pictures for the hotel, the pools were large and never got overcrowded. My 6 year old LOVED the slides and could stand up in the slide pool, whereas the main pool was too deep for him. We had no problem finding sunloungers in the shade, though if you wanted the best spots you had to get up early and claim a space.

Staff - I found all the staff very friendly and helpful, despite many of them not speaking a lot of English. The reception staff and entertainment or 'Animation Team' spoke very good English.
The Animation Team laid on entertainment from around 10am to midnight. There were a wide variety of activities which all my family got involved in at one point or another, including pool games, water polo, volleyball, darts, table tennis, zumba.... and more.... The team clearly work very hard (with long hours) and do their upmost to give you the best holiday they possibly can, (they doted on my kids, who absolutely loved them) whether you want to get involved in everything or be left alone.
On an evening there were shows or activities at the outside stage, often with audience participation, which was great fun. Me and the kids really enjoyed this, especially the funny shows the Animation Team put on.

Gym, spa & indoor pool - this little annex was really nice, the indoor pool providing a relaxing end to the day with hardly anyone else in it. The gym had running machines, various bikes and cross trainers. It didn't have any free weights but did have a few multi-gym type machines which enabled a full body workout.
On our second day we decided to try the spa and turkish bath. We paid around £80 and got the following, which lasted two hours
- Turkish bath & exfoliation (full body)
- Bubble massage (full body)
- Mud pack (face)
- Full body massage on a massage table
The price included all the above for myself and my wife, plus the kids got a bubble massage and mud pack. I thought it was great value and expertly done.

Overall - I don't usually do package holidays or laying round a pool. But the fact we didn't leave the hotel for the first 10 days shows just how much we enjoyed this place and would definitely recommend it.

Darren.

My boyfriend and I spent an enjoyable 10 days at this resort.
Hotel and room
The hotel itselt was very impressive, the decoration was very modern and luxurious. We were lucky enough to get a room on the 12th floor with a spectular view of the beach and pool from our balcony (all rooms have this view). The hotel has a number of bars which were all very nice which also had nice seating areas inside and outside. The soft drinks are all official brands i.e coca cola. The alcohol however is not official brands but do taste nice and the measure are huge, The staff never expected to be tipped and are generally polite and helpful.
The hotel as a lovely pool area with a number of sunbeds, even during the busy periods you could generally find a bed. During the day there were many activities such as aqua aerobics and water polo. We both found the pool generally quite loud where there was a DJ playing music for the majority of the day. If you did however want to escape the music there was a beach very close by which was nice and quiet.
The hotel also has a Spa attached to it which we both visited to have a turkish bath. We paid £40 each to have a full turkish bath and full body massage which was thoroughly enjoyable. The Spa itself was very impressive and definately worth a visit.
Restaurant
Generally the food and drink was very good. There was a very large range of foods which differed everyday. Breakfast was also on until 11am which was a bonus. Dinner time could get very busy with large queues. Food was also avaliable by the pool which consisted of chips, burgers and pizzas if you wanted a snack during the day.
Evening Entertainment
The hotel had an animation team which put on a show every evening in the amphitheatre. The entertainment was generally aimed at kids and was very average. There is a bus that can take you into the centre of Altikum for 1lira 75 this approximately takes 15 mins This takes you to a strip of quite lively bars and clubs which a generally quite cheap. Taxi's back to the Venosa can be quite pricey at 20 lira. The bus stops at 1 am so you would need to get a taxi back at this time.
Trips
We booked three tips to go on which amounted to roughly £30 each. One was the jeep safari which was very disappointing. It was advertised that it was a tour around Altikim and Didim but we were taken to a few beaches where there was very little to see or do. The description also failed to inform us that it also included having a huge water fight with other jeeps on the same trip, many others enjoyed this aspect i.e those with children but we did not. We also visted a local market which was enjoyable lots to see and many bargins for clothes, bags and shoes.

Overal a really enjoyable holiday, the hotel was really fantastic and would highly recommend it. Altikum itself is a generally quiet resort but this made our holiday very relaxing.

For those who have read bad reviews (just like we had), jut ignore them. We have only just come back after a fantastic 2 week holiday at the Venosa.

Last year we went to the five star Sentido Perrisia in Side, Antalya and were impressed with that hotel and what it had to offer. This year after booking with the Venosa, we became very worried due to some of the reviews of the Venosa. Thats all we can say is, we worried unnecessarily.
The hotel is fantastastic both inside and especially outisde. The choice of food was wonderful and always beautifully presented. There is something for everyone and with two chidlren who are fussy on their food, not even they had any problems.
The design of the hotel in itself is goregous, with the huge relaxing wing overlooking the pool and sea, that enables you to sit in one of numerous and very long bays of facing white leather setees. The hotel is very "contemp" and unique. The beautiful marble stairs leading down to the shops add to it as well.

The ammount of space outside is amazing. Combined with the massive pool and the outside bars and other eating places, we were spoilt for choice. There are a number of trellis`s around the pool that provide shade if you want to be out of the sun. The pool itslef despite the numbers at the hotel never got crowded.

They have made excellent use of the grounds by adding a huge outdoor arena. It looked quite impressive. Although the animation teams shows were "okay", they did work really hard everyday and into the night. An added bonus was the concert the Hotel put on for us which involved a famous Turkish pop-star hosting the event at the hotel arena. It started with an excellent firework display and she was superb. Although she sung in Turkish, I loved her music and only hope she comes over to the UK. The lighting and sound of the show was fantastic.

We found all the staff so helpfull and polite. They couldnt do enough for you. This included the booking in staff at 0600am when we arrived after a nasty six hour delay on our flight from Exeter. The chap on reception was so jovial with our children at this time, which was very pleasing especially after reading some customer accounts on Trip Advisor regarding how rude and miserable they were to them.

A small observation I constantly noted regarding how hard the staff work, involved me noticing every time we returned back to the hotel at the end of the evening show. On or way back up from the arena at approx 11:15pm and on passing the restaurant, we noted the restaurant staff all sitting in a circle polsihing all the drinking glasses ready for the morning!

I want to give credit to "Umit" the restaurant manager for the hard work of himsef and his team in trying their best to ensure the meals run as smooth as possible. He was so committed I made note of his name to make sure it was disclosed in this review. The hotel boss/owner was always on patrol in all parts of the hotel both in and out to ensure standards were maintained. He was so approachable and it was blatently obvious that he wants to provide the best for his guests.

We can all find something to complain about where ever one stays on holidays. If we were to highlight any shortfalls, I am pleased to say that it is minor and it certainly didnt spoil our holiday at all. It relates to the table service at the restaurant. We felt this does require a slight "tweak" to get it right. We felt their efforts to get on top of things hampered by there being insufficent staff. If they had a few more, the tables would get cleared quicker. Also, we didnt like the fact that you have to go and collect your cuttlery. I feel that for a 5 star, the tables need to be already "dressed" with cuttlery and serviettes .

Just as we were leaving on Monday evening I walked through the restaurant and saw that they had dressed the tables for evening meal with cuttlery and serviettes. I dont know if this was a new plan, but I have to say that it looked so inviting and had a wonderful overall effect on the dining hall in itself. I only hope they continue with this practice. Guests will love it, and you are a five star after all!

Apologies for such a long review, but I will say it again.... A MASSIVE THANK YOU VENOSA. You gave us a wonderful holiday. If this is waht you can provide during your first summer, next year will be out of this world!

We stayed her for 2 weeks in aug. When we arrived at the hotel around 4am we were told there was no rooms for us & we would have to stay in a temp room, the rest of our family had to go & stay in another hotel for the night! we didnt get our room until 3pm the next day, they had overbooked! The reception area was a shambles all the time with people fighting for rooms!! When we were finally got in our room the holiday got much better! the rooms are lovely, the pool area & beach are also very nice. The food was ok was often a bit cold, but you would never get hungry, theres food being served somewhere all day! The resturant again was a shambles!! The animation team were very friendly & so were most of the staff. The entertainment was rubbish! We got the yes bus into altinkum town which is a very good service! All in all lovely hotel, lovely holiday but no way a 5*

We visited a week after opening. Not many teething problems and most of our stay was smooth and uneventful. Very nice room, with a lovely (if slippery floored) bathroom. View from the balconies was beautiful. Food was good - could always find quite a bit we wanted to eat - and you must check out the friendly old Turkish lady in the tent near the pool making gorgeous pancakes. She taught us a few Turkish words and phrases while we waited - and was interested in learning the English equivalents. Pool was super, beach not so good. Hotel surroundings in general were of a very high standard - and we had a couple of romantic strolls round the pool and down the pier after dinner. They may have sorted their WiFi issues by now but, when we stayed, the connection they advertise in the lobby couldn't be relied upon. Overall, could definitely have stayed longer and would recommend.
