The Mimosa Resort & Spa is in a very rural area of Koh samui. Chickens wander loose, and water buffal9 are grazing behins a low, rusty fence. There is a dirt trail with huge mud holes in it leading to the hotel. Debris from palm trees and garbage litter the area. A few small, very rustic "restaurants" are in the area. Thus is an isolated and impoverished area if the island.
The beach is very narrow and the water is dirty. The founders are old and uncomfortable and the pool is tiny. Food in the restaurant is acceptable for lunch and dinner but below standard for breakfast. The coffee is undrinkable.
The rooms are small and very basuc. The shower had rust in it and the beds were on an uncomfortable concrete platform. Behind is a huge swamp breeding mosquitos. The staff was very nice. This is definitely not a four star hotel in terms of quality. Thete are many, many better choices. The location is abysmal.

Amazing staff who were super helpful and friendly. 30 min taxi to Chaweng, 15 min to Fishermen Village. Beautiful setting right on the beach. Scooters conveniently available for hire at reception.
A few basic/local restaurants nearby, but slightly secluded from hustle and bustle.

Checkin went smoothly and I could already check in prior to official check in time. The room was beautiful and I felt very welcome, they had candles lit with the most wonderful scent. The beach is very shallow and there are only a few meters of sand before you hit the rocks, but I’ve been up and down Bang Po Beach and this is the most beautiful spot. The pool area is nice and the restaurant has a direct view of the ocean, very beautiful! I wasn’t impressed with the spa/massage at all! Totally overpriced for the worst Thai massage I had in the whole of Thailand! Rather walk a few meters along the beach and you’ll get a great massage for the third of the price. The staff was very very friendly and they even bothered remembering my name!

I absolutely loved this place. It's quite small and doesn't feel overrun by crazy tourists. It was calm and beautiful. The private pool villa is the only way to go. The beach seems almost private too! It's not 5 star, as it could use some TLC, but it is still perfect. It's close enough to the craziness of Bo Phut and the fisherman's village, but it was nice to come back to the serenity of this place. You can take a free bike (or a daily charge for a scooter) down to the 7/11 on the corner if you need anything. Would go back. Great place for kids!
