We are very fortunate to live very close to the Villager and I would have no hesitation in saying that it is one of the best restaurants of its category in the country. The food is always outstanding and varied and very reasonably priced. It is very much fining dining at an affordable price. The atmosphere is friendly and very casual and the large garden to the rear means that it is an ideal place to bring kids.

We went to the villagers in glasson athlone. Four of us went to dinner. Lovely warm atmosphere, the restaurant was full! The staff were very friendly and efficient! Very varied menu. Great presentation and very tasty. It had gluten free options on the menu two of the party were gluten coeliacs. One item was advertised on the menu as gluten free . The burger meal with skinny fries. We asked if the skinny fries were gluten free and they checked with the chef. The fries were not gluten free. So it was missleading so we didn't order the fries. But it could it ended up with two very ill people. But over all experience was excellent. Always ask if the food is Def gluten free.false advertising.we picked this restaurant because it said gluten free menu . But overall all our needs were met , would definitely go back again !

The freshest food served in a friendly, busy and buzzing restaurant. I had the seafood platter, bursting with succulence, the tiniest most delicious mussels I have ever tasted. Two in our party had roast beef which was topped by enormous light as air Yorkshire puddings. Desserts were exquisite.

I love eating a lazy lunch in this atmospheric pub. The "specials" , in particular, are just what they claim to be - special. On this visit, I had a seafood platter with, amongst other delights, some spectacularly good scallops. The extensive list of wines by the glass is a bonus - I had a very nice Verdejo, from Rueda, which suited perfectly.
Criticisms? Well... lets say that in the battle between the hake fillet and its batter - the batter won! Apart from that, this was an excellent meal.

Love this comfy cosy pub in Glasson. It fills up very quickly and I often eat here at lunchtime if staying at The Wineport.
The fire is always lit and it is a typical Irish pub with all the trappings you would expect.
Food is rich and wholesome and the roast of the day just like Grandma would make.
Wish we had more pubs like this in Ireland .
