My family stayed at Acajou for one night, we rented the family cottage and a standard cottage. The cottages were very clean and well kept and the staff friendly. The beach is nearby, walking distance and since it is turtle nesting season we were able to see hatchlings released to the sea. It rained a lot the second day (rainy season in Trinidad) so we did not get to walk around as much as we wanted and revisit the turtle center. In the night around 3am a tree fell and pulled down the electricity line and we were out of electricity up to the time we checked out, this hotel does not have a backup generator supply. The family cottage has a ladder to a small attic (with 2 single beds on the floor) so if you have a toddler like I do its a bother since my daughter kept on climbing up/down which is a safety hazard. Also the back porch does not have a front railing in the family room so not a kid playing zone. Lastly the wind blew in the rain on the attic in the night so my father-in-law who slept up there got a little wet and had to hang a sheet up to block the rain. Overall the place was nice and we understood that the electricity outage was caused a natural disaster so the hotel could not help this. I am giving a 4 rating, since we did have a wonderful time at the beach and the rooms were very clean and the ambience very relaxing.

Difficult road access but place is worth it. Secluded, well-built and maintained wooden cottages. Insect-proofed. Food is decent. Clean room. Comfortable bed. Perfect for nature lovers. No hot water in shower.

Acajou was amazing - the grounds is beautiful, the villas are full of character and charm, the food was great and the customer service is excellent.
The only reason for not giving 5 stars is that I find the bathroom is a somewhat dark, and it makes the shower seem dirty. Having said this, I was only there for 2 days so it was not a huge drawback.
I will definitely return.

Small, beautifully rustic, cabin style lodgings with an ideal location and scenic view. Customer service was adequate and professional but nothing special. A 5 minute walk or 1 minute drive to the forestry division authorized tour guide office but you have an open porch and hammock view of the beach where the turtles surface to the beach. A little overpriced but the accommodations in this area are limited. I would definitely do it again though.

Room Tip: The rooms are definitely perfectly romantic for couples. There was no ac and television in our room. However the location is so lovely that you won't miss the tvand there were enough fans provided though.
