This is great getaway hotel.Though it might be a bit off the beaten path its definitely worth the drive.its a series of individual cottages which gives you the feeling of being in a different country.there is a beach which can be accessed from a path on the hotel.the staff was very friendly and the cottages clean and well decorated.its a bit of an open aired concept which i liked but at the same time mosquito nets cover all the windows which is perfect because once the doors are kept closed you don't have to worry about insects getting in.there are 2 fans which kept the room cool enough.there are only 2 negative things that i have to say however.1) i would not recommend the restaurant.the prices are close to the prices of a high end restaurant in port of spain but nowhere near the quality of food.the unfortunate thing is that there is practically nowhere else in the area to buy food.we tried 2 bbq huts from locals and the food was really quite good for the usual price which we were quite pleased with.there is also no kitchen in the cottages so cooking is not an option .2) the reason i would think twice about staying here again inspite of the poor food is because at night every inch of the room is visible from the outside.if you're ok living like a goldfish where every move you make can be observed you won't have a problem but note that once you turn on a light in the room at night anyone standing outside your room can clearly see what goes on in the room.there is no privacy whatsoever.in order to change you have to go in the bathroom as the entire room and bed area is visible to anyone standing outside.that means that if you're lying on the bed persons on the property can also see you.this made me very uncomfortable as our cottage faced the path that guests can take to the beach and the gate is not closed at night so anyone can wander up off the beach at night and see clearly into your room at night.i would visit again but only if privacy blinds are put up at the porch doors and the glass windows at the porch is changed so that guests can have some privacy in their rooms.if it doesn't bother you that persons can view everything you do in your room at night then this might well be the place for you.

My family and I (6 adults and a child) were traumatized when the deck on which we were seated totally collapsed, hurling some of us onto the muddy ground and others of us into a mass of broken floorboards.. some studded with rusty nails. Mercifully, we only experienced bumps and scratches which healed over the next week and a half. We were blamed for this collapse by the manager although there were no warning signs to indicate that the deck would collapse if more than 2 -3 persons sat on it.

After a perfunctory expression of sympathy, we were informed that our plight would only be dealt with after the insurance company had reviewed the situation. Eventually, the charge for one night for one cottage was grudgingly waived (at my suggestion).
We did not feel that our disturbing experience at the hotel was important to the senior staff member on duty.
There was a lack of concern and empathy for what could have been a more damaging and injurious experience.. Training in this area is needed.

A very nice place hidden away in north Trinidad. The hotel is very isolated and beautiful so great for private getaways. The food and service were great and the room very modern yet natural.. I will revisit

We stayed at acajou with some friends and it was a lovely ambience. We attempted to see hatchlings but were too late, only helped some turtles to the sea. Was a really great experience and the food was amazing

Really enjoyed my time here with my boyfriend. Very quiet, relaxed and enjoyable. The rooms are great and though the beach is not always the nicest for swimming the rivers around the area are beautiful to explore.
