Edem taverna is the resturant to pick if you want to eat along the port in Kolymbari, no doubt! The owner Andres greets you with a smile and a handshake and takes pride both in his food and in making you feel welcome and appreciated as his guest. If you want a real food experience don't order the standard fish platterns but go for todays fresh fish payed for by weight. Andres will happily bring you to the resturant kitchen and let you pick the fish and size you want for yourself and then grill it for you the way you want it prepared. The while juicy fish meat you get in some of them are amazing! Also try the steamed mussels! The flavours are brilliantly cooked and put together!
Try the House wine as well or the white "Josef" from the wine list! Andres is a wine farmer as well and will recommend when asked! You can safely trust his advice!
From some of the other reviews I suspect they've ordered the "standard tourist dishes" instead of trying out the best the taverna has to offer..
3 dishes for two people including a bottle of wine and sparkling water is about 50 Euro. And when you are all done, you get a homemade raki and a delicious piece of cake on the house along with a sincere handshake, smile and greatfulness when you leave. Wonderful!

We ate at 3 of the restaurants on this stretch of beach twice each and I would say their trip advisor rankings are accurate. At Edem, we had the large and small seafood platter the first time but I was disappointed by the proportion of deep fried foods included. I would have expected more grilled items. The second night we had the meat platter, and I enjoyed that more (although the fried seafood was nicely executed and definitely enjoyed by my kids!). The Cretan Salad was the best we had anywhere. The local lobster was very good. We were warned that it would take an hour to prepare, and it did. Service was warm and wonderful.

We visited this restaurant after finding the one we wished to visit was fully booked and had a 45 minute wait.

Like most people we like to try new things and places to decided to give Edem Taverna a try. We were greeted whilst looking at the menu and had a very pleasant start to our meal.

We were seated on a table of our liking and were immediately provided menus, bread and water. This is when things went downhill. The water bottle we were provided with was dirty and had dirt and dust on the top and the menus needed a really good clean.

Everyone around us was provided with bread rolls which looked really appetising, however we were provided with a not so great basket of crusty bread.

We then ordered our meals, myself with the lamb in wine sauce and my fiancée got the chicken with garlic sauce.

The sauce wasn't sauce at the all, for the lamb it was like water the meat was boiled in with no flavour at all and for the garlic on the chicken it was like water again with finely chopped garlic.

These were probably the most disappointing means we have had all holiday, of which we both left and feel we certainly won't be returning.

The two stars is provided based on the quality of service we received, if it was based on the two meals we had I'm afraid it would have been none.

ordered the calimari (frozen and a bit rubbery) and the seafood platter - which was all fried...
We also ordered a white wine, which was probably the best wine we had the whole trip! go and order the white Syrah - its worth an hour of your time!!!

and make sure you bring cash - they don't take creditcard..... I wonder why :)

We visited this Taverna as recommended by our Apartment owners in Afrata and wished we had gone earlier in the week as it was the best meal we had all week. We had a Greek Salad, Calamari and the small meat platter of chicken, lamb, souvlaki, burgers, Greek sausages. Only order the meat platter if you have big appetites as we could not finish it and they gave us a take away boxes, the meal was delicious, very tasty and the Greek salad was excellent. The village wine we had with the meal was very good. The owner and staff gave excellent service and we would go back here if we come back to Kolymbari. Nice location over looking the sea.
