Sorry people this is a loud and dusty location, the traffic is relentless. there is a blue police box in the garden The Tardis springs to mind and the time travel is complete inside the top units when you are transported back to the late sixty's early seventies. one good thing is the price, not to bad, but you get what you pay for.

Tucked away on the edge of the village this site is located on SH1 which is its main downside. The motel rooms are clean and spacious and the grounds are well kept. The pool is clean and well thought out and there are two children's play areas for varying age ranges. Staff are friendly and welcoming.

Nicely located just off the main highway, a convenient day's drive and sightseeing from Dunedin. The place was pretty quiet when we stayed overnight in a cabin.
The cabin was more spacious than many with ensuite and separate living area. It had all the basics necessary to cook a good meal.
The shower had good water flow and was nice and warm. Heating in the living area should be quite adequate for cold days.
We didn't use the camp kitchen nor ablution blocks so we're not sure what condition they are in.
There is a large open field for kids to run around and quite a good playground - including a trampoline.
There is a sign to a path to the river - but it is quite a long walk that goes through pine forest, a gravel road, and a machinery storage yard. You can't access much of the river at the end and it is certainly not safe for swimming - but there were a couple of fishermen there.
Overall a good place to stop if you want a function cabin for a night or two.

Room Tip: Book ahead at busy times

This was a great place to stop after travelling all day on my way to Dunedin. I found this place easily right off the highway - a perfect sanctury to rest on a long trip. Bathroom and kitchen facilities were clean and tidy. I was made welcome and accommodated for with a cabin and bedding for a reasonable price. Thank you.

This is a tidy place where the owners obviously take a lot of pride in how it is presented and run a pretty tight ship.

If you are looking for a relaxed place to stay, this is not it. There are a lot of rules and signs around the place, including a sign on the sugar asking people to use a clean dry spoon. Seems a bit excessive for a holiday park but maybe that's just how they keep the place tidy.

We found the male owner has an aggressive, mistrusting approach; at a guess it's as a result of being let down by previous guests and its a shame that he was unable to be objective with new guests. We just kept the kids away from him and carried on.

Overall the facilities and grounds are all in a tidy condition and its not a bad place to stay.
