Sorry to say that Avencio has retired and his second in command has taken over Havier I think this is how you spell it so the kitchen staff and waiting on have changed So their is some slight alterations to the food to what we have been use to for the last twenty years or so following Avencio around the village in his various restaurants
The cooking methods are certainly different and the
Canerian soup left a lot to be desired plus dont leave your bay leaves in and a few other minor details I do hope that time will tell But the Paella was good we had a few days later
The service is very good and nice table lay out and spotless glasses some of the older decoration has been remove and efforts to tidy up have been made but could still do with replacing his windows
Maybe things will change over time for the better but if you have not been their before you probably would not know any different

If you are walking around El Medano you should come across this small but excellent Restaurante. It is on the Paseo Marcial Garcia if you are walking from the harbour and bus stop it is on your left hand side where the path widens right on the corner. It has not got many tables so if you want a popular time you should book.
It starts serving at 1pm going straight through to late.
We so enjoyed our first meal there so much we booked and eat there twice more. The staff are very friendly and helpful, with a good food and drinks menu.
Our first meal here was early afternoon just after they had opened the fish options are in the cooler by the door and there were quite a few Spanish in which is always a good sign. We started with fresh warm bread served with garlic alioli (mayonnaise) and what a kick this had fantastic start, we also had water and a bottle of good canaries red wine to go with our meal. I then had the best French onion soup I have had for some time whilst Yvette had the garlic prawns, I then had cod la Riojan (i.e. Cooked canaries style) whilst Yvette had the catch of the day all served with veg and pototoes I finished off with a coffee and the bill came to just under 70 euros.
We dined twice more here on the Saturday evenings starting with beer and G&T's and had very similar experiences to our first meal.
Will most definitely go back here if we go back to this part of Tenerife in the future.

Great intimate atmosphere with a thoroughly local authenticity; really lovely seafood and fish served by staff with character.
Would recommend if you're in town.

We ordered fish soup, avocado salad and a big fish for two. The soup was too salty, the salad was fine but tomato too green but the fish was delicious and the white house wine was veeery good,so I can recommend it. The restaurant is old fashioned but it has its atmosphere

Went here by accident with no high expectation and was wow-ed. The food was delicious and the atmosphere great and local. Only downside is that today was very windy day and because of the single glass it was also chilly with some wind inside.
