According to Trip Adviser's reviewers, the best option for eating in Ste-Croix is a place called Café 12. But my hill walking trip was on a Sunday when it was closed and I didn't fancy the local kebab house or a gloomy tea room, so I went to the Hotel de France. The restaurant is called Bistro 77 and it was fine. I ate fish and chips and had a glass of Gamay. Service was prompt and polite. The dining room is a bit dull but the sun was shining through the windows and the other guests were cheerful, so there was a good atmosphere. I enjoyed my meal and continued on foot towards the railway station.

In the heart of St Croix in the Jura mountains, this hotel has everything you could wish for. It is run with clockwork efficiency ensuring that guests have the most relaxing stay possible! Dinner was yummy. Rooms very comfortable. Excelled wi fi. Prices very reasonable. Just the thing after a day in the mountains!

Room Tip: All the rooms look good to me but the owners will do their best to give you the best view if you ask

Nothing was too much trouble for the splendid couple who run this hotel. The rooms were comfortable, the food was excellent and the feel of the place superb. I was travelling with a group of 25 people and was their leader, so finding ourselves at such a wonderful hotel was a bonus for me. Not only was everything about the place so good but outings were arranged for us at short notice to a local museum and to a music box museum in the next village, where the owner put on a show for us. I would strongly recommend the hotel, the town and the area in general.

I enjoyed a very pleasant overnight stay at the Hotel de France in St. Croix on Sunday-Monday 21-22 September. The rooms are a bit basic but clean and well equipped. The dinner was excellent and the menus quite creative. A very nice breakfast followed a nice quiet night's sleep, as St Croix is a pretty quiet town. The best part was the welcome, hospitality, and service offered by the proprietors, Marina and Rolf. Another plus are the wonderful driving roads all through the Jura mountains that lead from or connect to St Croix. And the hotel and dinner were excellent value. Highly recommended.
