Another recent reviewer made the comment that he and his party where booked to stay at the Marianthi just down the road from the Marilena butt he former was overbooked - strange, that also happened to us to! But also, like the said fellow reviewer, we enjoyed the stay at the Marilena. The rooms were basic but very clean (maid went in every day) and the bedding was changed frequently in our 12 day stay.
We had one of the rooms facing the front of the property with a good sized balcony that we could sit on and enjoy the views of the illuminated castle during the evenings.
The pool looked very good with more than an adequate number of sun loungers and we saw the water quality being checked most days as well as it being cleaned.
We were there on a self catering basis so the facilities were, again, basic, but totally adequate. We ate in the main hotel on several occasions and, although it wasn't cordon bleu, it was enjoyable if standard fare but the quantity was good.
The only evening entertainment that we experienced there was a 'Greek night' when one of the proprietors indulged in some local dancing to traditional music.
The location is a little distance from the town of Molivos and may put some people off, it is about 2 miles, as the walk back at night might be too much especially if the local hospitality has proved to be very enjoyable. The taxi fares though are very reasonable and the hotel do lay on a free mini bus service at cetain times throughout the day to help their residents get in and out of the town - the last bus for this service is 10 p.m. so that might prove to be too early for some.
All in all, although we were very apprehensive at first, due to our original hotel being overbooked, we were pleased with this as an alternative.
