This was our 4th visit to Gordios in four years , and our 6th vist in four yesrs to Aquis hotels, but it will be our last...................

Standards have not just dropped they have plummeted, maybe if you have never stayed at this hotel before you will be quite happy, but for returning visitors the difference in the standards at the hotel is remarkable, although I have to give credit to the staff who are all very aware of how the standards have chaged this seasons, all they kept telling us was "CUT BACKS" the staff realise that things have changed at the hotel, and not for the best, but they have to knuckle down and make the most of it as the season in Corfu is quite short,

The food was not as good as previous years, very limited choice this year, if you like turkey you will be fine, breakfast was the best meal of the day, so fill up on it, on previous visits the desserts have been outstanding but this year far fewer choices, the dessert island used to be full to burst, this year only half the island was used, very limited.
Tea and coffee was available to choose on the counter on previous visits but not this year, no pots of milk either, just coffee from the machines and quite often a rather long wait for one of the staff to even ask you what you would like to drink and then another sometimes long wait to recieve it at your table.Talking about tea and coffee, This is no longer replenished in your room daily, once you have used up what you find in your room you have either to go down to the pool bar for a tea or coffee or go to the onsight shop and buy a sachet of sugar, tea or coffee for 20c, so if your in one of the bungalows which can be quite a walk from the main hotel building, you could become very thirsty,
In previous years the spirits behind the bars have been well known brands, but not anymore, as hard as we tried to get a buzz from what we were drinking it didn't happen, the spirits used are either very low in alcohol, or as many holiday makers discussed watered dowmn!!!!!!!!!!! The hotel has cranberry juice, but if you want voka and cranberry juice you can't have it because the cranberry juice is only to be used when making cocktails, otherwise you can pay extra for it even if you are booked in on all-inclusive.
We were expecting good things from the entertainment this year as Thomsons are back selling this hotel, but this was just wishfull thinking, even the staff at the hotel have told us how bad the entertainment is, and they have to put up with it till October, one of the staff said the entertainment was c--p!!!!!!!!!!!.A great deal of people gave the Thomson rep a really hard time about the so called entertainment.
Aqius have always branded themselves as a" bracelet free all-inclusive" but not this year, because Thomsons are sellind half board and all-inclusive the dreaded bands have been introduced. Why don't Thomson just sell the holiday as all-inclusive? Why mend something thats not broke.

Afternoon tea used to be served around the pool around 3.30, there would be a large table covered in a beautifully pleated white cotton tablecloth, china cups saucers and plates and a selection of sandwiches , snacks ans pastries all on silver serving dishes, not anymore thas sandwiches are now just put on the bar, sometimes without any covering and your tea or coffee is served from behind the bar in a plastic cup.

If you have never stayed at this hotel before all of the above may not intetrest you but for those people who are returning customers the changes really do speak for themselves. I realise that Greece has problems of its own at the moment but lowering standards in its hotels isin't going to help, I fear it will just stop visitors returning.

Room Tip: all rooms have sea veiws, but if you choose a bungalow the veiws are not always as good, and if you do choose a bungalow you need good flat shoes

Hi just returned from an all inclusive holiday at the aquis agios gordios beach hotel .lovely location we stayed in a bungalow room(two storey appartment) with seperate living room aircon in both bedroom and living room .tv in both rooms plus dvd player fridge .tea and coffee facility you have to get tea and coffee etc from the restaraunt they should be supplied in your room .fabulous views great sunsets .The hotel however is not platinum more like 4 star. couple of issues your only supplied with one bottle of water in your fridge you can get plastic cups of water from the main building and take them back to your room not ideal .their is a 10 euro deposit for towels you can change them everyday and get a refund at the end of your stay these towels are quite small and tatty.A safe deposit box is 3 euros per day .drinks service in the restaraunt can be very slow .There is supposed to be a dress code for evening meals in the restaraunt however on several occasions there were men wearing shorts and women wearing short shorts allowed in the dinning room 'very stylish'

Room Tip: bungalow rooms are great and very quiet but the hotel rooms are more convenient.

Very clean, tastefully decorated. Very friendly staff. The website that I booked from recommended the hotel as 5star. I'd say it's a 4star. The main reason for this is down to the food. I was all inclusive. Whilst the food was fresh and clean & well presented, the food choices were pretty 'safe' and maybe a little bland. The resteraunt could benefit from being a little more adventurous with some themed nights for some more variation. I had a very relaxing holiday. the staff were all very friendly and chatty. The beach bar was chilled, almost an ibizian vibe! Sandy beach. The swimming pool was immaculately clean. The gym looked pretty good, despite not actually using it! The walks around the hills surrounding the hotel were pretty exhilarating (take walking or running shoes, flip flips are a bad idea!). It's worth hiring a car or scooter whilst you are there. We found some amazing beaches and places to eat on our travels. Corfu is an amazingly beautiful island!

This was our first time in Corfu and we chose the hotel and resort on the basis of other reviews and the fact that the hotel was rated as a Thomson Platinum in the brochure.

Overall, the holiday was very enjoyable - the village of Agios Gordios is stunningly beautiful set between green, high mountains and the shoreline. The village consists of a long beach, tourist accommodation and a few bars/tavernas - the whole ambience is very laid back. There is a bus service to Corfu Town (€2.20 one way).

The hotel itself is located to the southern end of the bay, just outside the village and built into the hillside. The hotel faces west and most rooms enjoy sea views - as a result, they (and most public areas in the hotel) experience amazing sunsets every evening.

The hotel has a reasonable sized swimming pool, its own beach area and several bars (beach, lobby, roof terrace). There's a main restaurant and a couple of specialist restaurants too, but these are not included for all inclusive guests. There's also a spa and well equipped gym along with hot tubs on the roof terrace bar. All of these creates a really chilled atmosphere ideal for relaxing. We were all inclusive (as most guests appeared to be), although drinks prices seemed fairly competitive. The hotel runs its own entertainment programme, although we found it wasn't particularly suited to our taste (bingo and karaoke).

Rooms appear to be newly renovated to a high standard - there are flat screen TVs and DVD players and air con units have been added. Elsewhere the hotel appears to have been refurbished recently with modern patio furniture and comfortable sun loungers. Again, this gives the hotel a relaxing and modern atmosphere.

For us, the most significant area of improvement is in the main restaurant. The quality of the ingredients in the food falls short of a 4 star hotel (e.g. seafood risotto made using crab sticks, some meat was very fatty) and the service is poor (staff seemed to be doing everything with no real organisation - e.g. we often had long waits to order drinks and in some cases just got the drinks ourselves). This wasn't the fault of the waiting staff: instead we felt that management needed to better organise the duties of the restaurant staff to serve the guests better (e.g. allocate some staff to getting drinks, other staff to clearing tables, etc). The hotel was only about 2/3rds full when we were there, so couldn't be blamed on being the high season.

Overall, the hotel and holiday are very good, but echoing the comments of other reviewers we felt that the rating in the brochure was perhaps a little high given our experiences of 4 star accommodation elsewhere.

My boyfriend and I stayed for a week recently and both enjoyed it very much!
They hotel staff where friendly and the hotel is very modern and of a high standard.

FOOD
We went all inclusive.
We really enjoyed the food, too much so in fact as we are bother feeling at least a stone heavier! I am a veggie and there was a good selection for me, I did find myself eating a lot of pasta and rice but that is because I didn't always fancy the veggie main dish. Everything was really delicious :)

But men be warned- take long trousers for the evening! My boyfriend and I didn't know that he needed long trousers, and every night we were asked by the restaurant staff for him to change, and he tried to explain that he didn't have any with him. What annoyed me about this is that the rule for evening was no shorts for men, that is all, and we saw plenty of men in scruffy jeans, t-shirts, flip flops, even ripped jeans, and a few men in long board shorts for the beach, yet my boyfriend was asked to change? And the women could wear anything, my boyfriend and I love to dress up so I was dressed up a lot, but the women could wear shorts, t-shirts, even ripped-jeans hot pants, that is NOT what I would call appropriate for dinner! My boyfriend was dressed so much smarter than most of the other guests! He wore formal shorts with a shirt and boat shoes, yet he got a row every evening, sometimes he would be asked to change by 4,5 or 6 different members of staff, and every time he explained that he didn't have any long trousers with him they just said "Please Sir" as if he was refusing! This was very annoying and upset us both. In the end he borrowed a pair from another guest that we made friends with. The hotel staff in reception spoke better English and they said for him to go and buy a pair of long trousers in the shop next door, even though these are casual trousers with big pockets that would be worn by someone who is hiking, this is apparently more appropriate that smart shorts, boat shoes and a shirt?? I think they need to be clearer on the rules, we didn't receive anything telling us that men needed long trousers. The rule should be - Formal clothes for dinner, and all guests should be told the rules!

ROOM
Our room was very comfortable and all of the appliances where new and of a high standard, our bathroom was clean and modern. *****

ENTERTAINMENT
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel, every night there was some form of entertainment, like a disco, quiz, Greek night etc, it was very fun :)

LOCATION
The views from our room and the location of the hotel is fabulous! We saw some gorgeous sunsets! The hotel is very close to the beach, and has its own private beach with parasols and loungers for guests, along with a beach bar, but the drinks in this bar where not included in our all inclusive deal, though one night we bought some cocktails from here and they where gorgeous!
There is also a little town close to the hotel.

All in all I think it is a very good hotel, lovely place to stay for couples! There where mostly older couples staying, and a few young couples too.
We had a wonderful time and I would defiantly go back in the future!! :)

***** Five Stars from me! xxx

Room Tip: Ocean view room has gorgeous views of the sunset!
