We were staying on an All Inclusive basis, and it's hard to believe that we stayed the same week as Frances 2355. The week didn't start well as we had rain and then thunder and lightning for the first 3 days and maybe that made us more critical but from our arrival the staff on reception were surly. To get to our room from reception we had to go up 6 stairs to a very small lift, which took 1 person and 1 suitcase. We were on the 3rd floor of the furthest away block at the end of the corridor. We arrived just after 12 noon but had to wait until 2 pm to get to our room. The room was very nice, no problem there, although the towels in the bathroom were very thin. Use once and they were wet (not damp, wet). The food in the restaurant was very good with plenty of choice at all meals and if you didn't want a full lunch you could have sandwiches from the pool bar, which were very tasty. The service in the restaurant could be a bit 'hitty missy' depending on where you were sitting, but overall it was good. The Greek night and the Italian night in the restaurant were excellent. The restaurant was down stairs again and to get to the pool and pool bar it was down stairs and more stairs. The beach was down a long slope and then down 82 steps. To get pool towels you had to pay 20 euros at reception, receive a card, take that to the pool bar and receive 2 towels which had to last 2 days. On one of the days we had to change the towels we were given 2 towels that had had the tops torn off! On the last day you do the whole process in reverse - towels to bar, card returned, back to reception to get your 20 euros back (which in our case was 'plonked' on the counter 3 feet from where we were standing!) The drinks, what can I say, the lager was refreshing, but weak and the spirits at nightime varied so much that we wondered some evenings just what we were drinking! The entertainment was something else - 1 night we had a quiz, another night we played bingo, we had 2 nights of a man playing the piano, but half the time we couldn't make out what he was playing, 1 night of 3 singers singing like Il Divo (this was EXCELLENT), 1 night of Greek dancers (this was OK) and 1 night of a guy playing a guitar and singing along to very loud music, however he had a good beat and plenty people were up dancing! The beach was lovely, plenty of beds and umbrellas and the sea water was warm and crystal clear. There were quite a few wasps, but the bar man who was well surrounded by them said they were not aggressive! I only got bitten 3 times by mozzies but some people were covered in bites so take plenty of sprays with you if you are going to this hotel/area. Overall we just felt that the hotel had too many people for the facilities that it had. One thing they did forget to mention in the brochure was that you had to wait until 11 am for the sun to get to the beach due to the beautiful hilly scenery behind the hotel, but when it did come out it was lovely and hot! We did not feel that this hotel was up to Platinum standard (or what we expected for Platinum standard) and we will not be returning for another holiday, but some people we spoke to had been to that hotel 4 times which just proves that old saying 'You can't please all of the people all of the time'!

Room Tip: Hard to say which was a good room as all rooms seemed to be up some steps and then either down some steps or take a very small lift. (Our lift took a maximum of 4 'stick insects' because you certainly wouldn't have got 4 people in it!) We did speak to one couple who had requested a 'quiet room' and they had been given a room on the ground floor next to the lounge/bar area! So I wouldn't like to actually say which was a good room.

This hotel is not for the disabled. It is a very nice hotel beautiful scenery, most of the staff friendly and helpful but there's always one an i found him good thing i did not understand greek.
Travel agent was told i am disabled but can manage a few steps recommended a bungalow in the grounds of hotel,do not think they are like english ones that was my mistake, paid extra for the privilege of what turned out to be a bottom flat with 3 flights of stairs to negotiate and no lift.
There is a lift in main complex but limited does not go to roof terrace or the pool.
Pool reached by 2 flights of steps.
Could not go to beach as this was accessible only by steep steps lots and lots of them.
Evening entertainment was good two nights out of seven.
Food varied and plentiful.

We went here expecting the worse having looked at the reviews but were pleasantly surprised. The hotel was welcoming, staff lovely and helpful and the food was plentiful and varied. Drinks were not a problem and as strong as you wanted and the steps were fine, yes steep and if you had difficulties walking would be difficult but it was a pretty walk down to the beach. Free sunbeds on the beach which were plentiful too. Some areas shabby but only through wear and tear. All in all a very lovely relaxing holiday and Corfu is beautiful.

My boyfriend & I spent a week there from Friday 5th October. Having read the recent reports about the hotel we were a bit concerned how the week would be. All I can say is that anyone that doesnt have a great time there must be very unlucky. We arrived at reception at 11.30am & although there were about 6 other couples checking in ahead of us we were dealt with quickly & politely. Within 30 minutes of arrival we were in our room. One of the lifts in the hotel that took us down to our room was small but the porter quickly followed us down as there wasnt room for 3 adults, 1 case & hand luggage. I had requested a double bedded room & was very pleased to have been given one. The bed was huge (6 ft wide). After leaving our bags in the room we then went to lunch. The quality & variety of food was very good. Nothing was too much trouble for the restaurant staff. We tried to sit outside for lunch but the wasps were a problem even though there were plenty of wasp catching devices around so we just went inside & had no further problems.

The quality & variety of the food for all meals was very good. I am a fussy eater & i was always spoilt for choice. Drinks in the bar were very good. We did have to try a few cocktails until we found the ones that we enjoyed. My boyfried is a "Real-Ale" drinker & although there wasnt any available on the All Inclusive option he did find the lager was very good.

The staff work incredibly hard, some were on duty for breakfast & still working when the bars closed at 1am. The entertainment was better on some nights than others. The best act was 3 english guys as a Tribute to Il Divo on Sunday night. They were superb. There was also an excellent beach party on the Saturday night which was brilliant.

Although the AI finished at 11pm the drinks after that were quite reasonably priced. There were no restrictions on taking food or drinks back to your room.

We will certainly recommend this hotel to any friends & hope to return there in the future.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main building are best. A lot of the bungalows are away from the main hotel facilities & located down paths or steps which are not suitable for those with walking difficulties.

The Aquis has a superb location at the end of Agios Gordios beach with it's own sun loungers, parasols and a smart beach bar. Pool area is also good, together with it's own bar. Approx 600 yards walk either by road or preferably along the beach into the village, which has several interesting bars, tavernas etc.
The quality of food was excellent, even for it's four star rating. Service was also excellent.
Downsides - the hotel is built on a hillside and there are countless stairs to negotiate to get anywhere around the hotel, quite tiring even if you are fit. The 2 small lifts are inadequate and slow, so we tended to ignore them. Also, there was not enough hot water for showers most nights after 19.30, not good enough for a four star hotel. Though bedding was clean and regularly changed, the bedcover was smelly and in need of washing.
Despite the few downsides, this was a good hotel with very good food in a great location and we would definitely wish to return in the future.
