Stayed for a fortnight, last week of August first of September last year 2017. It was 1 hour 15 transfer from airport, but the location when we arrived was worth it. Minus points: The usual early bird sun bed bookers, but we always found beds, there are steps and slopes to access the beach in front of the hotel, also the hill down to the village is steep, but in my opinion both are worth the effort. Also during the day wasps can be a bit of a nuisance, especially around Lunch and Dinner time in the main restaurant. Because there is a large outcrop of rock behind the hotel, generally the main pool areas are in the shade until well into the morning.
The hotel is split into to main blocks, reception being located in the top block (the first one arrived at) this also contained the Spa and Italian A la Carte restaurants. We used both and enjoyed, we used our 15 free treatment at the Spa for a massage, my partner went on to have another treatment (paid for) during the next two weeks. There are also French and Greek A la Carte restaurants which can be used, but these need booking in advance. Our favourite was the Greek with its location next to the main pool.
There are steps a slope to access the beach, but if your average fitness it shouldn't be a problem. On the beach there is the Tunnel bar where the meals, which were very nice are at an extra cost. The beach is clean, with coastguard cover, there was also PADI dive facility 50 metres from the hotel, where everyone was friendly and helpful. Food was good, drinks good and service very good. If mobility is a problem there are hotel phones dotted around the complex, which you can use and a golf buggy will arrive to take you from building to building.
The local village is worth the walk, at night there aren't enough bars to attract crowds from elsewhere, but there are enough to give options over a two week stay. You'll find Madison Gardens well worth a visit for a place to chill out, and get a great welcome. Also The Lemon Tree and Robins nest all have different vibes.
The views of the sunsets were amazing, we would definitely return for another visit.
Would defintly return

This hotel was lovely and modern and I can not fault the food or the staff. The staff were incredibly helpful and polite. The views from the rooms were absolutely incredible and we had the treat of watching a lightening storm over the sea on one of the nights, it was amazing!

The views did come at a price though as the hills you had to walk up to get to them were tiring and tricky and not what you wanted after a big meal! Definitely don't don't forget to bring anything down to the pool with you as you won't want to go back up in a hurry!

The major downside we had was that the hotel is situated next to a huge cliff face which meant that we didn't see any sun until 12/1pm so only had a few hours. This was affected by the time of year we went though (end of Sept) as it was cloudy as well. The cliff also meant that the main pool never really saw much sun so was freezing! I don't think I saw anybody in it in my whole stay which was a shame.

Over all, the hotel was gorgeous and the views were insane so I would definitely recommend. The food was good but the entertainment was a bit lacking as it was often only in one area of the hotel so it you weren't there early then you wouldn't be able to get a seat to enjoy. Great for a chilled beach holiday.

My wife and I visited Cofu for the first time in September and stayed at the Mayor La Grotta Verde Grand Resort. The firs thing that struck me was the location with every room having a sea view and this is a large hotel. The hotel also has its own beach which leads down into the warm Mediterranean Sea. The rooms are quite large with a beautiful view of the sea and the cleaning staff are excellent and keep the rooms in pristine condition. The food in the main restaurant is excellent and there is another three restaurants, which also give there own particular slant on food i.e. Greek, Italian and French all having excellent menu's and wine.
The beach leads to the village of Agios Gordios where there is a variety of shops and supermarkets.
The weather at this time of year is still good but it takes the sun just a little longer to reach the pool, which suited us well, as it gave us time to walk off our breakfasts and explore.. There are ample sunbeds round the pool or down at the sandy beach Corfu is a small island that is steeped in history and would recommend a guided bus trip which takes you to a range of different locations to see the sights of Corfu.
Please be aware the hotel is situated on the side of a hill and therefore would not suit people with mobility difficulties.

Room Tip: All rooms are brilliant.

What an amazing hotel. This was the best holiday we've ever had.
We were upgraded to a room with a plunge pool on arrival which was absolutely amazing. The bed was superking size and so comfortable. There was a nespresso machine with pods - only problem was that the pods weren't replaced after they'd been used. The room was just beautiful.
The hotel is massive and very spread out and hilly, so not good if walking and steep hills aren't for you, but there are points around the grounds that you can call to be picked up by a golf buggy.
The food was lovely and it was nice to have different restaurants to try, but a little disappointing that we couldn't get into them all, despite trying to book on the day we arrived.
Both pools are beautiful and bar staff were lovely. Good selection of cocktails too. The beach was lovely and nice and long for a lovely walk. The beach bar is lovely to sit in too.
This hotel was just perfect. Such a peaceful and enjoyable holiday that we miss a lot.

Great hotel, lovely helpful staff, beautiful views and overall a very relaxing holiday. The room we had was great, felt like we were on a ship as all we could see was the sea! The sunsets were amazing and we looked forward to watching these every evening. The food in the buffet restaurant was very enjoyable and the choice was great, I'm sure we gained several pounds in a week - although the amount of walking we did helped keep us fit and healthy.

We were disappointed to find that some of the restaurants were unavailable or had closed as it was the end of the season. The rooftop bar was closed from the beginning of our holiday and it did become apparent through the week that the hotel was closing down around us. We were very aware of this as everything seemed to be 'clingfilmed' as the week went on and it was a little bit disconcerting as the 'live' cooking station in the buffet restaurant was being deep cleaned whilst eating our lunch on the last day of our stay. We did feel like we were in the way a little with the staff very apparently packing away around us. This said we did enjoy the peace and tranquillity as there were very few people left on the last few days but I do think the hotel need to make people aware of this when they book.

The 'round the island trip' with Thomson was a great day. Stunning scenery and the guide we had was extremely knowledgeable and we learnt a lot. A trip to see George and his wife at the local supermarket is a must - a great character and his homemade wine was very tasty.

Overall an enjoyable and relaxing break. Corfu is a beautiful island and we thoroughly relaxed and had a good time.
