Everything was wonderful-best holiday for relaxation and authenticity. The villa is spacious and comfortable with air-con (no extra charge) - wifi (it was not working one day but the owner was on site within 2 hours to make sure it was working- turned out to be a problem with the provider and was fixed immediately). The owners Stellios and his son George are just lovely and so eager to please. We received a gift of local olive oil, Raki and other produce on arrival. You can pick fruits from the garden, delicious fresh oranges and lemons and others. The pool is spectacular - good size, lovely and clean, large terraces, 5 sun beds and breathtaking views - it is also very private on the terrace and at the pool, you can see over the village of Gavalachori and down to the costal area of Almyrida and Kalives. The cleaners came and changed the sheets and did a full clean including the bathrooms and floors throughout and boy do they work hard!

The villa has a lovely terrace off the living room which we enjoyed spending time on looking at the view and eating lunch with the kids. Everyday we used the grill/panini maker to make delicious toasted sandwiches served with fruit from the garden for dessert. Between 2 and 4pm it was too hot to be outside and kids (age 12-15) enjoyed some cool quite time indoors on their iPads and laptops - internet is essential with teenagers!!!

The master bedroom is large with Double bed and doors to side patio, the twin room is also large, both rooms have extensive wardrobes, cupboards and drawers (could do with a few more hangers). the bed for the 5th person is up on the mezzanine which has steep steps to get up and down so only really suitable for a child age 10 to 18 I would say as it might be too dangerous for a younger child and to much hard work for an adult, having said that our 15 year old loved it and his younger brothers were a bit jealous as both wanted to sleep up there.

Location - situated only 1.6kms from Vamos village - great little traditional Greek bars in the village - 3 euros buys you 2 beers, a plate of delicious local cheese, a bread basket and dish of crisps - (free wifi too) excellent value! There is 2 bakers offering fresh breads and lovely cakes.
There is also a family owned pizza place - with proper wood burning pizza oven - delicious pizza takeaway service - 10" margarita 6 euros and special fully loaded 10e (they are deep and well filled and we found 2 pizzas served 4 well with some left over).
There are some nice restaurants in the village, we ate at parasio Rakadiko (no 1 on trip advisor in the village) on the 1st night, lovely setting in the garden, nice people, nice food and good value but we found other places we liked better in Gavalachori and Almyrida.

Gavalachori village is about 1 km from the villa down a winding road (pretty route) and the supermarket there is clean and well stocked from a well known chain, you can get everything you need there (but it is cheaper to do a big shop in the INKA supermarket in Kalives). There are 4 lovely restaurants in Gavalachori and our absolute favourite was the ArisMari (although it has the Greek name over the door so you have to find it down a little street sign posted to the folk music museum). The atmosphere, setting, food and the people were absolutely fantastic and they have the best Mousakka in the area.

Beach - 8 minutes drive to either Kalives or Almyrida - Almyrida is a lovely bay-beautiful water, lovely tavernas and shops on the waterfront, plenty of parking, this was our favourite beach.
We also took a trip to Georgiopolis which took about 20 minutes on a beautiful scenic route and there we took a pedalo up the river and round to the gorgeous sandy bay for 5e per person for 1 hour and 15 minutes - it was gorgeous! there is a lovely fresh fish restaurant between the river and the bay and the food is reasonable, views special and all fresh fish and seafood (which can be hard to find elsewhere).

Kalives - lovely in the evening for a walk and fresh ice cream - there is a lovely cafe for drinks right by the river and the best restaurant in town is undoubtedly "the mill" (formerly Zorba's on trip advisor). it is located opposite the church in the square - exceptional Greek food at its best and so reasonably priced! Katherine is the daughter of the family and she also will come to the villa during the day to do waxing, pedicure and manicures, I had a pedicure for 20e and she did a perfect job.

Favorite Restaurant - located in Alymyrida - on the waterfront - fantastic food from chef Maria and service from Ellana and Costas - we went there on our last night for another visit as it is a very special place - the Lamb baked in Paper (with red wine and potatoes) is exceptional, they made Taramasalata for us especially, all the dishes were out of this world, very fresh and nicely presented. they bring you bread and dips complimentary.

Wine - local wine in all shades is served in a carafe or jug - it is on average 5 euros for 1 litre (they call it a kg) it is not a fine reserve but it is very pleasant and palatable and we would recommend trying it as the imported wine is very expensive even in the supermarket.

Summary - Great location - very comfortable house, great facilities, beautiful views, wonderful private pool, lovely people - we will go back next year but next time for longer.
