Good location, close by Serrai di Sottoguda and by Marmolada. Warm atmosphere and welcoming staff. Sauna and steam room to relax, header ski store. Room was good standard with balcony and view to the mountains. Great breakfast. I have enjoyed my stay and shall comeback.

If you want to experience the quiet mountains, in a unique small alpine village and feel welcomed as if you were home, then this is the place to go. Good wellness, a ski room with boot heaters, nice rooms but most of all a very welcoming, very personal feel of the host family who are interested in preserving their environment and great food. And after dinner wind down in their bar where after a few moments everybody gets to know verybody in a welcoming relaxed atmosphere.
A place to go if you wish to genuinly enjoy the mountains, go skiing, relax, unwind, be away from the masses. Easy access to a ski bus shuttle that brings you to the Marmolada with access to the Sella Ronda or to Aleghe with its Civetta ski domain.
It is not a place to go if you seek fancy luxury, party and glamour.

We were touring through Europe and were so happy to find this amazing getaway in the beautiful Dolomites. The hospitality was top-notch and we felt like we were part of their incredible family. Dinner often included delicious dishes homemade by the family with fresh ingredients (spinach from their garden, ricotta cheese from their neighbors cows). The pumpkin gnocchi was our absolute favorite! The room was recently renovated with stunning woodwork and was extremely comfortable. With all the amazing food and fresh gelato, we are happy that this perfect retreat is within walking distance of incredible hikes. We enjoyed breath taking views on long hikes, an evening stroll down the serrai, and an amazing biking adventure in a nearby valley. We are already dreaming about a winter adventure at The Montanara Hotel so we can see this amazing place in its winter glory and give ice climbing a try!

Well the hotel maybe not everyone's cup of tea as not on the slopes, you have to get the ski bus (a little walk to it first say 200M) to either Allerge (15-20mins) or The Marmoloda/Arraba (5mins) areas for the Stella Ronda, however you can ski back to this hotel via a lovely ice frozen gorge, well worth the effort. The hotel, in terms of comfort, food (especially the food, breakfast and evening meals as HB along with the drink measures and general overall hospitality from the staff is excellent. Friendly is with a capital F and certainly makes up for not being on a ski slope. Will suit the romantics as Sottaguda (the village) is lovely and quiet, great views of the fantastic Dolomites Ski the Marmoloda is a must do!. Good sauna and spa as well in the basement.Village ski shop a bit quirky re overall ski selection, not the best, also thought it was expensive for Italy as on mountain food & drink esp coffee! very reasonable. We loved it!

Room Tip: Try for a balcony room and enjoy the food! Car would be useful, especially if planning to visit other ski areas, front wheel drive with snow chains a must.
