We have stayed at Abbots Thorn several times over the last 10 yrs and have loved every minute of it. Beautiful views from a home full of character, absolutely nothing wrong with the decor in the Lilac Room, which has always been very clean and is really spacious. Our dog had a great time too, as he was made very welcome by the dog-loving hosts who made us feel totally relaxed with bringing him in. Don't see the problem KatP2 said about dog in car during breakfast, after all other guests may not be happy having dogs around at breakfast time and the hosts have to be considerate to all their guests. We certainly would not want to leave our dog alone in a B & B room. The temperature is cool enough at breakfast time for dogs to be left in a ventilated car (which are parked in easy view of the dining room so you can see them while you eat) and our dog is very relaxed waiting for us in those conditions. Pat and John go to great lengths to make sure you enjoy your stay and the cooked breakfasts are excellent . We will be returning as often as we can and can't wait for our next visit.
