We stayed here out of necessity after having to divert our holiday from Vietnam from a typhoon.

Our original room was at the front of the site, near the main road, which was not too much of an issue. What did prove to be a problem was the interconnecting door in to the next room. Why they insist on having these in every room I do not know. Unfortunately the family in the next room had a child that woke up crying throughout the night and the noise was unbearable in our room. We put up with for 2 nights before being asked to move. To be fair this was done straight away without a fuss to what was supposed to be an upgraded room. It was in the Ocean Wing but the only additional benefit we could see was a slightly better view of the beach. The room itself was smaller and the décor was certainly more dated.

The breakfast buffet was pretty inadequate in our opinion. We have stayed in several high end hotels in Thailand and this was certainly the worst breakfast spread we have seen. The chicken sausages were uncooked every day. Every day I pointed this out to the staff. Finally on our last day one of the few waiters who could speak English claimed that the sausages were "boiled for over an hour" and therefore they could not be undercooked....... Not sure how they explain why they were still pink in the middle then...?

The cleaning was also substandard. Our room did not seem to be mopped the entire time we were there and dirt and sand just seem to get swept in to the corner of the balcony.

The food in Mom Tri's Kitchen is nice but pricey and I would not say it represents value for money compared to places in town. The staff in the restaurant were overall better than the staff in the rest of the hotel. I think the management (of which we saw none) have forgotten that first and foremost they are a hotel resort, with a restaurant attached.

In summary we would not stay here again. It does not represent value for money. We stayed in The Shore @ The Katathani at the beginning of the year and for a little bit extra you get world class service and accommodation there.

Dear RichB555,

I am sorry to hear that you had an unsatisfactory stay with us. You may not have noticed but I was the one to organize the moving for you to the beach wing that day.

Thank you for additional comments on our Food and Beverage team which they will be used to improve themselves, creating an even stronger team for the hotel.

A beautiful hotel on a hill with great views and easy access to the tranquil Kata Noi Beach.
We one of the beach units, which was great, but the palm in front of our balcony blocked quite a bit of the view. We commented to the staff, and the next day the palm had been trimmed back, and our view was superb. That is the kind of service they provide.

Breakfast was great... and don't forget happy hour 5-7 in the afternoon (half-price drinks).

One perk we did not find out about until we were leaving is that they have free shuttle service to Kata and Karon. We would have used this service had we known, as the only negative is that Mom Tri's is not an easy walk to the other local restaurants.

Also, you will find out that Mom Tri is not a homey housewife who took in visitors. here. Mom Tri is a famous Thai architect (actually connected to the royal family) who now lives in Bangkok, and comes by on occasion (we did not get to meet him).

Dear xdisney,

Yes, Mom Tri is not the homey housewife that some may think. It is easily mistaken, thank you for sharing this information. Though living in Bangkok and going to attend his business elsewhere he still spends a lot of time here as the owner, the architect of the whole place, and simply as a second home.

We are happy to hear that we satisfied your expectations. We hope you will come and visit us again.

My partner & I stayed in the Pool Villa at Villa Royale for 7 nights. This villa is very private with its own plunge pool overlooking beautiful Kata Noi beach. There are steps down to the beach just outside the entrance to the villa.

The villa itself is beautifully furnished in a traditional Thai style with a large separate living room as well as the very comfortable bedroom and very large bathroom suite with spa bath. There are several outdoor seating areas which was perfect for us at various times of day. You can either chase the sun or avoid it as you wish. The pool is perfectly maintained & refreshing.

We twice had dinner at the hotel’s in-house restaurant, Mom Tri’s Kitchen. The food (choice of Western or Thai) and cliff top location are superb. The staff in particular deserve special mention for their wonderful service & attention to detail. This is the case everywhere in the resort not just the restaurant. Also the breakfast each morning is fantastic with plenty of buffet choices and eggs etc cooked to order however you prefer.

We also had lunch at Mom Tri’s Pagoda. The hotel provides a free limo service to & from this restaurant (about 10 minutes from the resort). The food is Thai cuisine & is absolutely superb!

If you need a break & some privacy we highly recommend a stay at the Mom Tri’s Villa Royale - particularly the Pool Villa. It’s so impressive in every way. Total enjoyment.
