We had the best 3 days staying here, trekking each day through jungle seeing a wide range of amazing species, including an enormous herd of elephants. Delicious food, helpful friendly staff, cool lodge.

Room tip: Rooms quite basic but comfy

The food, staff and guides were all excellent. The transport to and from the resort was also good and the drivers very careful on the unsealed road to the resort. The dining area was nicely set out and the gardens and look-out tower a great asset. The rooms were a little tired and need a re-fit but the balconies overlooking the jungle were good. Overall definitely not a luxury resort but nonetheless comfortable. There were very few people staying at the resort when we were there - only one other couple most of the time. The guided walks and safaris were interesting.

Besides the Borneo Rainforest lodge which is really expensive and the danum valley field center this lodge is in mid price range.
We booked 3 day 2 nights package and had the whole lodge for us. No other people. Maybe still an insider tipp?
You really feel being in the middle of the Rainforest. Your guide Rom was really a perfect tour guide with lots of information about flora and fauna.
We were not very lucky seeing a lot of animals but the jungle is really impressive.
The meals at KDRL were damn delicious. For lunch and dinner you always had the choice of 3 different meals. For example chicken, lamb, fish, squid and always vegetables with a different sauce.
The facility is a little bit run down but clean and ok for 2 nights. But don't expect a 5 star hotel there. You're in the jungle with ants, bugs and ....
I can recommend an ac room because of the high humidity there.
All in all a perfect experience in the danum valley and a recommendation from my side.
The website is quite confusing because they also offer other tours there. To make a reservation you have to send an email. Quite old fashioned but somehow working.

This amazing place is set in Danum Valley Rainforest, as soon as I got there I was made very welcome and I sat down with a lovely lady who explained how everything would happen. My room was okay but had no air con, that didn’t bother me as I had a lovely big fan instead. I was then given some lovely food all freshly prepared. I then met Wangkong who was my guide, what an interesting and knowledgable gentleman. Within my first afternoon I’d seen wild elephants and throughout my stay I saw a long list of animals and experienced some amazing views. The staff were all very helpful and wanted to make me feel as comfortable as much as possible. Its very quiet and relaxing and I enjoyed my stay immensely.
