This is a difficult review to write: on the whole we had a very good experience but there were one or two aspects of the hotel that make it impossible to offer an unqualified recommendation. The room we had was spacious and well equipped; the pool was attractive; the grounds were beautifully kept and the beach was extensive and picturesque. Most of the staff members were pleasant and helpful but, in the restaurant and at the pool bar, they tended to lack the skills that one should expect from this standard of hotel. There was also a concern over the music that plays constantly in the restaurant and is very intrusive at the beach bar which seems to cater rather more for passing trade than for hotel residents – none of whom seemed to want the music at such a potentially peaceful spot. Having said all this – our only major complaint (and that of every other guest to whom we spoke) was about the beach “party” that was organised from 2pm to 7pm on the Saturday during our stay. The volume of the music drove all the hotel guests from the beach but it was still unacceptably intrusive when people were sitting by the pool. We actually had to wear ear-plugs when trying to relax on the balcony of our room. We had been warned about the party by the manager on arrival but we had no inkling that it would actually ruin what was, in fact, 15% of our stay. The totally inadequate response of the manager to my complaint was: “I understand your frustration”....and that was the extent of his concern. Apparently this “party” happens 4 times a years so it is essential, when booking, to make sure that it doesn’t coincide with any planned stay.

Room Tip: Starfish (King-size with sea view) is excellent

Rooms were large, clean with the most amazing outdoor screened in showers. The staff & owner were so welcoming at making us feel at home. The yoga palapas was a long trek up a set of stairs which worked my calves, however when you get to the top, the views are worth it. Keep an eye out for the monkeys on your way up to the yoga palapa...in the morning & late afternoon/early evening, they come out and perform a trapeze act for you.

Room Tip: The Ginger room is a two story bungalow, bed is downstaIRS, living room upstairs

Had a hotel booked in Bocas Town by a tour group, but on our first day exploring the island, we found Bluff Beach and Island Plantation. We decided to move hotels for our last 3 nights even though it meant we would lose the money we had paid for our already booked hotel in town.
It was well worth it, as it is a beautiful property and beach, plus the addition of a pool and the night firepit lends to the laid back atmosphere. Also, the food is wonderful, and the staff extrememly friendly and helpful, so if you want a relaxing beach stay, this is the place to be in Bocas Del Toro.

While staying on the island, we came across the resort at the end of the road. It was so exotic that we cut short our stay at another place to come back and stay here. The rooms are stylishly elegant and very spacious. They have a wonderful outside shower. Relaxing around the pool was a treat. This is also located on a beautiful stretch of beach. The restaurant/lounge on the beach side was great but the hotel restaurant was even better. The staff was pleasant and extremely helpful. We would definitely return.

Room Tip: We had one of the standard rooms by the pool and it was lovely.

I had the pleasure of leading a yoga retreat at Island Plantation. Everything about our stay was wonderful. The staff and the owner were so helpful and accommodating. The vibe there was friendly and upbeat. The food was spectacular, the chef is quite special. Loved my room and the hike up to the yoga shala was a great way to warm up and see monkeys swinging from the vines. The beach and lounging area were relaxing and a great way to rest and take in the Caribbean Sea. I would go back in heartbeat!

Room Tip: Beautiful rooms
