“Fantastic little cottage ”
Reviewed 29 October 2017 for a stay in October 2017

This was a beautiful goos sized cottage, with a lovely welcome feeling with a superb lemon drizzle cake and bottle of wine. Fantastic location to base any day trips from, we will be returning for sure.

“Welcoming & cosy cottage”

Great cottage with easy driving access to Barnstaple. The cottage is not hard to find if you follow the instructions (we went down the wrong track but Laurence & kids came out to point us in the right direction). The beds could be a bit more comfortable, even the double bed could use a mattress topper. Firewood is in the little shed by the front door so we never went cold, although some instructions on how to build a fire would be useful for townies like us! The kitchen has everything you could need. One tip, take some pound coins with you if you decide to use the indoor pool that's shared with a few other cottages: the pool is warm and clean, & we had it to ourselves which was lush, but hadn't realised the hot tub and sauna cost extra. It's a short drive from the cottage so once we were in our swimming gear it wasn't worth driving back for a coin. Overall this is a welcoming, cosy home which was good value for money and the owners made a great effort to make us feel comfortable.

“Very roomy cottage with plenty of character”

My wife and I have just returned from a week at the Courtyard Cottage. The Cottage has plenty of character as it is several hundred years old. Very clean and roomy with parking right next to the cottage as well as a decent sized garden with bench and chairs at the back.
We really enjoyed our stay here and the location means you are very handily placed for trips to Barnstaple, Croyde, Ilfracombe, Coombe Martin, Wollacombe, Morthoe as well as a great local pub and art hotel. Fully recommended.

“A great base to explore the wonderful surrounding area”
Reviewed 1 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

I chose the property based upon its internet listing and was not disappointed. It is accurately described and depicted in the photographs. The kitchen is well equipped and having small children we ate in most evenings. Laurence and Claire were most welcoming making sure we had all we needed to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The location is ideal to explore the fabulous North Devon coast, Saunton Sands was our favourite beach although Woolacombe and Croyde were very good too. We had a few days poor weather and having access to the nearby pool was a great for keeping the kids amused. There are lots of great places to visit and if you are a National Trust member you are spoilt for choice with Heddon Valley and Arlington Court nearby. Barnstable has a great market and selection of shops and restaurants too. Great holiday not dampened by the weather at all!

Liked best: The sympathetic updating of a beautiful old cottage.
Liked least: The access road to and from the property – requires careful navigation but would not stop me from re-booking.
