Close to Sydney’s second CBD, Parramatta, but seems like a long way from anywhere. Freshwater lake, convict built dam, row boats, fresh air, moderately aerobic walk through the bush around the lake circuit and a great cafe at the start/end.

There is a lot of parking, but it can be hard to find space on really hot days or during school holidays. It is a great place for a picnic breakfast, so take some food and drink and let the day start peacefully.

Lake Parramatta Reserve is an original area of land that has been preserved and returned to pristine status, and is actually located in North Parramatta - NOT to be confused with Parramatta Park (in the center of Parramatta).

Lots to do: paddle boat hire, swimming, BBQ, picnic areas and lots of walking trails (easy level).

Parking can be a problem on a long weekend / sunny Sunday; but what's unusual in a modern urban area?

There is also a cafe which has limited operating hours.

Reluctantly writing this review on the chance that extra interest will be attracted to this little piece of bush-land paradise.

If it's a hot summer's day and you need to cool down, I recommend Lake Parramatta. Great for the whole family with lifeguards on duty in summer. Just some advice to be careful when entering lake to go into water as the rocks are extremely slippery!

The park has a good walk roughly 1 hour, BBQ facilities shaded grounds, a cafe and is well maintained
