“A magical place”
Reviewed 23 October 2011

We recently returned from a trip to France which included a stay at Chateau Talaud. It was everything we hoped for and more. Our hosts Conny and Hein were most welcoming and made us feel quite at home. We had the pleasure of attending one of their dinners, where we met several other travelers and enjoyed a lovely evening of delicious food and conversation. The grounds and the rooms are spectacular. The website is an excellent tool as it is very accurate. We loved it and would not hesitate to return.

Room Tip: WEbsite gives accurate pictures of all 5 rooms.

Our gracious hosts Conny and Heine welcomed us into their fabulous chateau last week. We stayed in the yellow room, perfect for a young family , with a king sized bed and 2 twin beds as well in a large suite arrangement. The bathroom was enormous (there is actually a makeup table and comfortable chair in there!).....its a perfect getaway for wine lovers and Provence lovers....I highly recommend it with no hesitation!

I was looking through some photos last night - found some from our stay in Chateau Talaud 2 years ago and felt I had to write a review as I never did at the time

We stayed for 2 nights in the Blue Room - simply the best place I think we have ever stayed - you won't find gadgets and hip styling but a huge amount of character

The rooms are amazing, the breakfast great, the grounds great the hosts great - I think you get the picture

The highlight of our French vacation was the few days we spent at Chateau Talaud. Conny was very gracious with her hospitality, made us feel very welcome. It was a "home away from home", it was so peaceful, the grounds are beautiful, as was our room (the green room). The renovation of the chateau has been done superbly, with excellent taste. Recommendations for restaurants were also excellent (accompanied by detailed driving instructions), as was the dinner evening Conny hosted for her guests in the garden. We were lucky enough to be there during the harvest. A superb location and a wonderful experience - will definitely be back.

We spent 3 nights in the Blue Room here under the warm sunshine in April. Together with the help of Conny & Hein with our travel planning and in handling an "emergency" situation at the last day of our stay, this experience outweighs the price by very far. This was one of the destinations for our 3 weeks in France. We didn't plan very thoroughly in this Provence part of our trip after a rush from our wedding banquet just held 2 days before we flew off to Paris.

Conny kindly admitted us to their fortnightly house dinner on the day of our arrival despite that they were not able to contact us before hand. The Blue Room is excellent value for money especially when you compare it to what you pay for a room in Paris, with high ceiling, a noble bathroom, and antique features and furnishings all around you. It is stylish, clean and finely maintained. We enjoyed very much with sitting outdoor under the sun during breakfast, especially when the two fat sharpeis Sushi & Soya happened to be sitting yawning just next to our table. Our room had the view of overseeing their private vineyard, and their own labelled wines added weight to our luggages.

Conny will always give you the right advice to where to visit and to dine for the time being, especially as I had no idea of whereabouts in Provence. Although they run this place as a small B&B establishment, they have nothing short of a 5-star hotel concierge. They provide guided leaflets of fine and reasonably priced vineyards and restaurants around, and of course Conny was so kind helping us with the table reservation. We went to Restaurant Dolium in Beaumes de Venise which is a short drive from Talaud, which is practically good for fine foods and wine, and I'm sure that Conny would tell me more of these local secrets if I had stayed a few more nights. With their advice we also caught to visit the Sunday flea market at L'isle Sur-la-Sogue, a must if you happened to cover a Sunday with your stay.

Conny has usually more fun to share with you as she always stand at the frontline with the guests. She had a lot to blame on her husband Hein in our conversations while Hein was silent most of the times, but we witnessed the strength and masculinity of Hein in an "emergency" situation just when the rear wheels of our car fell into the field with the car front up in the air... my car was finally towed back on the bank with their truck with their help and also kind assistance from guests passing by, and costed them felling a small tree in the field.

Hardware excellence is what would attract your stay for a place for the first time, but choices are plentiful on this. We enjoyed very much with Conny's & Hein's hospitality to our stay. Just like many others writing a review here, Chateau Talaud deserves our next visit.

Room Tip: I suppose the windows are smaller on the less expensive top-floor rooms.
