We've been visiting the Red Lion in Cheadle for over 5 years now and always find it a friendly, comfortable English pub serving a fine range of drinks. The staff are cheerful and polite and always very sociable. There's a lovely outside seating area to enjoy. We've eaten here many times and the food has always been good, but the Sunday lunch 2 days ago was exceptional.
There were 4 different roast meats to choose from, or we could have some of each, all beautifully cooked and very succulent, accompanied by a Yorkshire pudding. We helped ourselves to five different freshly cooked vegetables and 2 kinds of potatoes all with the usual accompaniments. It was the best carvery I've been to.
If you don't fancy carvery, there were several other main courses, including vegetarian and fish, plus delicious sounding starters and desserts. So something for everyone, but unfortunately a main course was sufficient for me. The coffee, though, was delicious.
I can't wait to return when next in Cheadle. Well done to all there.
