For years I have wanted to stay in a village in the South of France, to experience the country side, living in something traditional but functional, where I can cook my own French food. Le Petit Jardin was the perfect answer to this dream.
The apartment is set in 600 year old ramparts in the village of Sablet with fantastic views over the countryside. It's is perfectly (and recently) renovated in stylish tones of cream and white, with a fully functional kitchen, two bedrooms, a bathroom and generous living areas. The main bedroom has its own sitting area. There is also a small garden overlooking the Place de Barry for enjoying your evening apertif.
The apartment was great with our two children - aged 8 and six months but would be great for adult groups or older children as well.
Sablet is a real French village with two boulangerie, a butcher, a few restaurants, tabac, pharmacy and a small grocer. It is only 9 kilometers from Vaison la Romaine and about 22 from Orange. There is plenty to do in the surrounding countryside eating, touring, shopping... You could spend weeks here and not see all Provence has to offer.
We were lucky to have our hosts Louise and John on hand, who were helpful but never intrusive. If they are not in Sablet I understand they have a very capable French manager to help if needed. Not that anything should be needed... The place was perfect.
I live to return!
