Description: The Cider Barn is a 450 year-old Grade II listed oak beam and truss framed barn. Sophie, the chef patron, serves a full a la carte menu which changes weekly depending on what produce is in season and at its best. As she says, "I believe in using seasonal and locally sourced ingredients of the best available quality to produce contemporary, hearty and unpretentious food which is full of flavour"

Found this place as a last minute TripAdvisor find when panicking to find somewhere for a Sunday dinner! They'd had a cancellation and managed to squeeze us in. Probably the best Sunday dinner I've ever had. Brilliant staff, perfect building with log fire and cracking food. We'll definately be back....

What a fabulous restaurant! We went on recommendation and although it's a little off the beaten track it is worth going a long way to visit.

It's beautiful place, well-lit and spacious with a huge log fire at one end. We were there on a quiet evening but judging from our experience it's going to be a must visit place so probably best to book.

The hosts Sophie and Paul were absolutely charming and the food was quite outstanding. I had the smoked duck and the venison which were both exceptionally good. There were really nothing but good things to report.

And all this at really reasonable prices. I would say that this is a Michelin quality restaurant at "normal" restaurant prices and would recommend anyone to give it a try.

Visiting from Canada, we were looking for something unique to the area, and certainly found it. Braised shin of Hereford beef and a slow roasted goat dish (I forget the actual cut) - both outstanding, with vegetables served on the side in true fine dining tradition, We were greeted very nicely with a complementary glass of fine cider, and the atmosphere was authentically rustic and cosy. After our appetites were fully satisfied, we chatted briefly with our hosts, both of whom served as well as apparently having a share in the operation. It appears that the adjacent cider mill has moved elsewhere recently, so I hope that this does not unduly impact their future business.
Highly recommended.

Sunday roast for 12 adults. I would recommend everything I ordered: blue monk cheese salad, braised mutton, and apple crumble.
The food was sophisticated without being pretentious. The roast potatoes were awesome, crispy as they ought to be. There was a great deal of choice for the mains, which made it difficult to decide.
The service was, overall, excellent considering the size of our group. There was a couple of mix-ups with courses but they were very quickly rectified. Definitely will re-visit this place.
