I booked a private ensuite room at Sleeping Boot because I was relocating to Hualien to study Mandarin and needed a room while I hunted for an apartment.

Nick and the owner were exceedingly warm and welcoming and helped me search the internet for apartments and then shuttled me around Hualien on a scooter to show me a range of neighborhoods and apartments. Once I chose my favorite, Nick helped me negotiate the lease, written in Chinese, and then helped me move in and do the initial shopping.

You can’t beat Sleeping Boot for comfort, warmth, hospitality and friendliness. Price was fair and room was quiet, clean and comfortable.

Congrats to Sleeping Boot for creating a great hostel in Hualien, Taiwan’s attractive gateway to Taroko and the East Rift Valley!

Awesome place to stay for couples or solo. I stayed by myself and it was well within my budget, very clean and the staff are very helpful and friendly. His English is very good and the hostel is conveniently located near the station. Two thumbs up :)

By far the best hostel I've visited in Taiwan! It has everything you needs: kitchen, friendly service - the guy working the front (forgot his name) gave amazing recommendations for food + places to visit, good wifi, clean room/washroom, lockers, and so much more!

It's very close to the train station as well as the night market - all within 20min walk. The place itself is very modern and simply decorated. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Hualien
