A short 5 min. walk from mrt Kaohsiung. The room is clean and they have typical chinese breakfast. But overall, we enjoy our stay in Jin Bao. Great starting point to start to explore Koashiung surrounding area.

We stayed here for two nights, and it was a decent place to stay. English of lobby staff was quite poor so we had some trouble explaining that our airconditioning did not work properly. After we went out and when we came back it worked fine again!
Room was quite nice, as well as bathroom. Clean.
The hotel has three free bikes for use, but one seemed to be out or order. We had some difficulty trying to get a hold of the two bikes to explore Kaohsiung as many people had the same idea.
The hotel is easy to find, perfectly located close to train station and close to shops and restaurants. Also close to famous night market Liouho, which is very recommended.
Chinese breakfast, with toast as well. Mostly cold, but lots of stuff to choose from.
My 1st impression of this hotel was that its receptionists were probably not local. With the directions provided, we were inadvertently made to tour the Sanmin District in search for the hotel. Upon arrival, we discovered that the hotel was actually located a stone's throw away from the Kaoshiung RMT. Furthermore, as the hotel is actually situated in a back alley, most locals may not be aware of its existence.
Our check in experience was not one to jump for joy for. The room we got had faulty air conditioning, and no matter how we turn it down, the temperature keeps going up like it had a mission of its own. The last straw were Vampire Mosquitos that not only bit us but left us with a bruise. Thankfully, the receptionist granted us an 'upgrade' to a room with a really big bed. We also discovered that the 2nd room came with free porn channels when we got the unpleasant surprise of turning on the large flat screen TV. This may appeal to some though. Other than that, the hotel also seems to have a constant flow of group bookings. And we understand that it may not be the hotel's fault but you may need to sleep with heavy duty ear plugs.
The plus? The housekeeper spoke fluent English and she is quite pleasant. The laundry facility and an area to hang out your laundry. The location, walking distance to the KRMT (Houyi), the Liuhe night market, convenience stores and bus transfers to Southern Taiwan (Kenting or others). We also noted that the area, despite its image of being in a back alley among shady looking bars, it is actually a safe area to walk around even at night.
We were able to reach the train and mrt station in about 5 minutes walk from the hotel. There were fast food, convenient stores and other local delights around in the area. Although the hotel was located at the central, we did not hear noises from the hotel during day/night. The room was clean, peaceful and has not bad facilities like fridge and tv. As it was a non-smkoing hotel, the room has fresh air. For motorists, you may want to rent bikes at the bike rental shop just along the way to the kaohsiung train station.
