Not very impressive, but it's good to spend at least half day to go around. I took public transportation, which wasted time to waiting for the bus.

Inside the Taroko National Park is the Taroko Gorge. If you like nature, then this is a must see. Besides the natural scenery of the gorge, you will also learn of the past history of the tunnels. I won’t recite or discuss any historical facts that was told by our tour guide because you will be hearing it if you decide to go to the Taroko Gorge.

The Gorge is magnificent and beautiful to look at but can be a dangerous area. We had to wear helmets when walking around. The walkable area isn’t big; you can spend around 30 to 45 min here. I do believe you can further explore because there is an suspension bridge. I wish we could have walked it, but that was not part of the tour. As such, it can be an advantage to come here without signing up for a tour. I saw a few bikers (mountain bikes) when I was there.

There is also a nice souvenir store with a food stand. The souvenirs are cute and the price of the food is reasonable. I think you will like this place if you are heading toward Hualien. I have attached a few pictures.

Thank Tom T

This is a place that everyone should see with their own eyes. It would be a crime to visit Taiwan & not see this piece of unbelievable natural beauty. There are several tour buses that will take you to all the sightseeing spots. Most hotels will be happy to make arrangements for you. The tour bus will pick you up at your hotel at around 8:30-9:00 & drop you off around 5:00. There are 5 stops not including lunch.

The nature presents us with magnificent views all the time. This was one of the best places that I had visited in Taiwan. Very picturesque and opportunity to take some beautiful pictures.

a must for nature lover (even for non-nature lover). the rock formations the lush vegetations, preserved forests these are just some of the things you'll love when you step on this place. the roads we're carved so as not to destroy but preserve the beauty of the mountain.
