We (my girlfriend and me) started our Sri Lanka journey at Ruuk Village. We stayed there for 5 nights. I can highly recommend doing it like this: Ruuk Village is a nice way to get familiar with Sri Lanka and its people. It's the perfect place for leaving all cares behind and start relaxing.
Even though we didn't do any kiting, we didn't get bored at all. One day we discovered Kalpitiya which is a ten minutes walk away, the other day we walked around the lagoon. One day, we just enjoyed the sun at Ruuk Village. We stayed in one of the big cabanas. Nothing to complain about, was clean, perfect service. Big plus is the outside shower! The food (break fun was really nice. By far the best we have come across during our Sri Lanka journey. The location managers offer a perfect service and speak English fluently. As a summary: Ruuk Village is luxury at its roots.More
