From the terrace of the Hotel Gabbiano on the island of San Domino, Tremiti Islands archipelago, there is a view ecstatic on the Abbey of Santa Maria in the sea, (dating from 1059) which stands
overlooking the island of St. Nicholas. This just about location, is a family-run hotel, but always careful to update the structure and the service has been correctly added a small Spa with sauna, turkish bath and jacuzzi. I have stayed several times and in different periods of the year in this
nice hotel, last week I had dinner there, (a good rule book); I found the seafood entrees,
also raw, and we waited we were preparing a Fragolino fish with potatoes, delicious, desserts, unfortunately, have never been the final pearl.
About the wine I noticed a careful selection of grapes from the Apulia not easily be enjoyed in other parts of the territory. On the island is a three-star hotel that stands out.

Room tip: Le stanze vista mare sono da prenotare con largo anticipo, e sono mozzafiato, ma anche le dépendance, molto più popolari e simili alle altre strutture, danno accesso ai servizi dell'albergo

I came to Tremiti Island the last week of Sept., fresh off a plane from SFO to Rome. Took the bus from Rome to Vasto and spent a few nights in Vasto. Then I decided to take what I thought would be a day trip to Tremiti Island via the ferry from Termoli (the only one still running in Sept. as the others had shut down).

I immediately found the van shuttle at the ferry landing for the Hotel Gabbiano and decided to check out the hotel which I had read about online before my trip. Upon arriving, I was completely taken with the island and the hotel - in this gorgeous off season. The weather was warm, the beaches almost deserted, and the beauty and charm of the island perfect. I would not want to be there in season (too hot, too crowded, too loud, I'm sure) but in this time (late Sept.), it was all glorious.

I stayed at the hotel for 8 nights in the end...a perfect place to relax. I was traveling solo and the family running the hotel could not have been more hospitable to me. I feel now like I have family on the island. Everyone was very helpful to me. Very very few Americans come here (they're all over at the Amalfi coast) so it was a great opportunity to just be, quietly, in a beautiful place.

The hotel was gracious, gorgeous, and very classy. I think it's the best place to stay. A number of weddings take place (esp. on weekends - beware of the noise), but aside from that (and I did enjoy a number of aspects of the wedding party) I cannot say enough about the great hospitality I enjoyed here. In season, however, it may be noisy, as the whole island is pretty much invaded with visitors.

I took the option of eating on the meal plan; some of the dinners were fabulous. The pasta portions were overly large - you should plan accordingly. Some of the fish meals were excellent.

The owner Gino and his family were so very very kind and took great care of me. Their hospitality is legendary and many clients come year after year both for the setting and the family.

Room tip: I say go for the rooms with the view on the upper floors - if you can. I had a fantastic view of the other island...with a deck, etc. All rooms have an outdoor space.
