The property and infrastructure are immaculate. However, I get the sense that the hospitality lacks heart. Staff members are polite but mechanical. Why do I say so?
1. I had emailed the hotel on the morning of 18 June, to advise that we were being stranded in Osaka because of the massive earthquake that struck in the morning and that we might be late checking in as we didn’t know if we were able to get to Tokyo at all. Until today 22 June, I have not received any acknowledgement or reply to my email. This tells me something about the level of care available in the hotel.
2. The hotel’s shuttle bus service to Shinjuku Station has the furthest pick-up point among all the hotels in the vicinity. And the waiting point is most obscure. Also, I cannot understand why such a large prestigious hotel only catered for nine passengers per trip in a small van. On our last day, we had to take a taxi to Shinjuku station because the shuttle bus is full.
3. Breakfast was a true disappointment among all the hotels we have stayed in Japan. The buffet selection was really too limited for the price it charges at 5,000 Yen per head.
4. We were treated like royalty upon check-in, being escorted from drop off at entrance all the way to the reception. The check-in desk had arm chairs and everything. However, at check-out we had to queue behind a small cashier counter. Wonder why the incongruence in experience.
While we enjoyed the in-room amenities and overall ambience of the hotel, for the premium we are paying, I would expect a lot more from the hotel. I have heard so much about the Park Hyatt experience but regrettably I am not convinced.

This is one of the best hotels we've ever stayed.
Incredible views, incredible personnel, very convenient rooms, goid bathroom. Good cousin. Both in the main restaurant and in the lobby bar.
Good attention to details. You feel yourself very special.

Its the first time I stayed at the Park Hyatt Shinjuku Tokyo. It gives you a Zen feeling from the time you arrive at the lift Lobby to go to the Reception area on the 54th floor.

It has a huge area on the 54th floor where you can find the restaurants, cafes and bar. The reception area is tugged away from the common area, it feels very exclusive.

The room I was in is a good size room with magnificent views, however there is nothing fantastic about the room except for the view. The swimming pool and gym area are reasonable size but seemed dated. To use the spa and sauna, even guests must pay separately.

The New York Grill restaurant has a great ambience, however the steak is ordinary. It is still good to have wine and steak and the view all at once. Adjacent to it is the famous New York Bar, always busy starting from early evening till its closing time, guests must put their name down and wait to be seated, the queue can be very long. If you are a staying guest at the hotel, inform them, you will have priority. It is a great bar with live jazz/blues music overlooking the night view of Tokyo, its a great feeling. The only thing that spoils it is the smoke!!. It is not a small bar, but even if there is only 2 or 3 smokers in the bar, it spoils it for the other hundred people. They should make this place a non smoking place so everybody can enjoy it, not only the 2-3 smokers!

Room Tip: Ask for room with a view ;)

We recently stayed at the Park Hyatt and had an incredible stay. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a Park Suite which was fantastic. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. This was our third time in Tokyo and had stayed at the Hilton in Shinjuku prior to this. If you are tossing up between the two hotels, like we have been for years, we would certainly recommend the Park Hyatt over the Hilton. We had stayed in the King Executive Suite at the Hilton which I believe is still less expensive than the Park Suite at the Park Hyatt, but we would rather have a smaller room/suite at the Park Hyatt, than a larger room/suite at the Hilton. The Park Hyatt, was quieter, more comfortable, more lavishly appointed and had a much better bar!

It was a short stay so we weren't able to take advantage of the hotel's amenities, but we were pleased with the size of the room for a family of 4 and the views were spectacular! We had 2 comfortable double beds and enough space to spread out our suitcases and all the souvenirs we bought in japan. The room has all that you need (toiletries) in case you forget anything. Just be sure to enter in the hotel's main lobby. The hotel occupies several floors in an office building. We made the mistake of entering in the office lobby and had a hard time finding the hotel. Luckily, the lobby staff called the hotel and someone came down to greet us and carried our luggage 1 flight of stairs to the hotel lobby (there are no elevators). great customer service!
