The unagi dishes here were lovely. We dropped by for lunch and had to wait for about 15 minutes before we got seated. My wife had the deluxe donburi with 4 pieces of unagi and miso soup. I had the deluxe grilled eel on rice in lacquer box and clear soup with eel liver. Apart from the soup (where one has a choice between miso and clear soups), the lacquer box eel comes with a separate plate of sauce as the eel doesn’t seem to be coated in sauce like the donburi. I think it tastes better as the freshly grilled eel has more fat and tastes better when dipped into the sauce. If you love unagi and are in Fukuoka, this restaurant should be on your list.

Hands down, hand on heart the bestest best unagi I have ever had. So yummy! Perfectly seasoned and grilled to a slight crisp. Do yourself a favour and order at least 4 pieces. There is no difference between the different options for the unagi. Either go for the donburi (bowl) with the eel served on rice or the kabayaki which serves the eel separately. As many have stated, they accept only cash. Ambience is peaceful and comfortable. Western seating in a traditional setting. This will be my must go eat in Fukuoka!

Absolutely delicious, for someone who doesnt really like unagi. They have unagi sets or unagi donbori for order. For 1st timer, sharing one set and one donbori is good choice. Go in between meal times to avoid long queues. Restaurant is easy to find and accessible by foot from Gion or Hakata station.

Restaurant was easy to find and is within walking distance from Kawabata shopping street. We were given seats on the third floor next to windows, very calm and pretty view!

Service was fast and efficient!

Now for the food- the unagi was very good albeit smaller than we expected. We ordered the 4 piece deluxe lacquer box set and it came with their signature unagi sauce, soup (choice of clear or miso) and rice.
