Not a bad view on this trail! Hiked it as part of a backpacking trip between our two campsites. I will be back!

This is an amazing experience, but it is a difficult trail if you are not an experienced hiker. If you are a novice, do not go past the first 1.5 mile marker. The climb back up is strenuous.

The silver bridge can be daunting - no floor boards like the Black bridge. After that Its nice and quiet hike up to Indian Gardens which is the half way point. You can refill water and catch up before you face the steep climb. Beware of the squirrels. They can go thru your backpack. From here on there are 2 more rest stops at the 3mile and 1.5mile mark. It gets crowded as you near the top but folks are mostly kind and give you the right of way.

Its only a little hike from the visitor center and offers one of the most spectacular views. Great photo opportunity .

We walked down the trail about one third of the way down. We stopped because there was a lot of ice in the shaded areas and we did not go equipped with proper shoes for ice. They do sell “ice grippers” to put on the bottom of your shoes in the small village shop but we did not know this until after our walk.

The views are spectacular from any section of the trail. It is absolutely breathtaking. They have mules that will take you down the trail if you so wish.
